wolves 2 Chelsea 5 verdict

Nuno has a lot of credit in the bank, but decisions like dropping Bennett from an already unsettled defence and playing both Traore and Vinagre as our wing backs away at a decent Everton team look pretty clueless in retrospect

Also have to remember that this isn’t a Chelsea side near the standard of a few years ago. Hearts telling me it’s a blip and we’ll work through this, heads saying it’s going to be a long season.
We have quality but it’s simply not performing, Jota and Neves league form is of the lowest standard it’s been since we came up.
Lack of competition for places maybe creating some complacency. Last was season was last season, fixture wise it’s been a tough start but out of the 10 halves of football we’ve played I’d say we’ve played well in about 2 of them.

Bennet was shit against Everton (as were the other 2), guess Nuno wanted to change it.
Really? Bennett was worse than Coady last week? Guess I didn't see the cock up from. Coady for Richarlisons first....

Forced to change because of Boly making a stupid mistake and we chose to drop our only no nonsense defender for someone who looks like a tall Hobbit and plays like one too.

Pretty sure I said they were all shit, do () hide things on here? If so I will have to use them more often.

I'm not sure what to think the rest of the season will bring, but the problems from Everton which appeared to be a one-off haven't been rectified, instead they've worsened today.

It's concerning to see the biggest strength of the team seemingly go completely AWOL.

Ha, no just that Bennett was not our worst defender vs Everton and therefore should not have been in the firing line for today, whatever his "profile".()

For me Nuno has got his selections wrong the last 3 games, midfield against Burnley didn’t work, playing Vinagre and Traore as wing backs at Everton left us very unbalanced. Dropping Bennett today also seemed strange and reason given very vague. Time to go back to the original back 4 and wing backs.
As has been said the hoof ball just seems a very odd tactic considering the personnel we have in the side.

Difficulty is you can't drop Coady and Vallejo clearly needs time to learn. Perhaps not the best game for that, but can see why he played him. I think Vallejo with Doc would probably be a better fit.

I definitely think Coady was awful in defending today but I have to say I thought he was missing Bennett and Boly and this made him unsure of himself. I also think he was missing Doherty because Matt always gives Coady the diagonal switch in play. So, the team, particularly the defence was handicapped by the selections Nuno made. He has to get them right next week or else what is currently a stutter could quickly become a slide into a relegation fight. I don't expect that to happen but we cannot have too many more repeats of today's woeful performance.

Watching it again on sky game of the day. It’s only the first half but we were ducking wank as I thought. Anyone who thought anything else get your head out the sand.

Ignoring our individual deficiencies, if we keep having 5 players plus Rui behind the ball then our only option is going to be the lump up front

Next issue. We know what Traore offers and we know what he doesn’t. His strength is getting to the byline and getting a ball in. Why is there only one man to aim at in the box here

The difference being tighter defensively and more for Neves to do.

Still disappointed with the first goal. That starts the rot. We need to get ahead. Away to palace would be a good start point. A nice 1 nil please.

Coady, Saiss and Traore were fucking wank. Our subs were the three best players today.

We are a far better team with Doc in it. I'd sell Traore for scrap.

Wouldn't be a verdict thread without it being Traore's fault :)

Didnt think he was any good today, but others have more culpability.

Not his fault but he clearly doesn't fit. Everybody looks poor playing with him. The difference with Doc was night and day.

You're right though, the back 3 were far more culpable today. I'd drop Coady as I thought he was atrocious and he's our lynch pin.

I don't think our system is bad or 3 at the back needs changing, I do think we need better defending as our forward play in the second half was very good in spells.

Yeah agree with all of that. Coady does look out of form and he's probably our most crucial player. Not sure how you can drop him though as we have no one to replace him.

I'd look to put Saiss at CDM and then play Moutinho and MGW in midfield.

I think we'll see changed against Braga and Palace

Hope we play more of a second team against Braga, it's not do or die like the qualifiers and we should still be strong enough to beat them.

Go first team and let players' play themselves into form. Nothing worse than a long losing streak.

Coady got away with one when Mount rounded Rui too. He had no idea Mount was there. He was a bombscare.

I go back to my previous point, if Coady is a bombscare and has been all season and we don't have a player to replace him then change the system
