Wolves 2-1 Everton: Verdict Thread

Adama didn't play and we looked a better team.

This isn't news.

It boils down to do you want to see an exciting, but rarely successful, circus act or a thrilling team with movement that makes the whole game entertaining?

Watching Adama is like a shot of alcohol. Its great when you get a hit for a few seconds but you just want more. He looked decent on the left cutting in but we got nil points in the games we tried it. If he , as rumoured , wants to go in search of European football I have no issue with that abroad , not to a rival. The 50m would get us the replacements that Lage needs and deserves and would end the debate on here succinctly. I like him but he has had lots of opportunity without delivering that often. He is not in my starting 11 when everyone is fit, and that is with the current squad. Add a decent AM and CH to that squad and he is unlikely to feature much.

I'd keep Adama as a plan B if plan A doesn't work.

But if selling Adama means we can bolster CB & CM then that would be the best thing to do.

He's worth what someone else will pay.

We've never had a single bid for him, and that was when he was playing well.

I think there's too much knowledge of what his limitations are particularly in the PL where teams will have watched a lot of film when preparing to play against him to be getting figures like £50m and that's before considering he only has 18 months left on his contract. That said there will always be a manager out there who sees the raw talent and thinks he can harness it. Leeds wouldn't surprise me, they've been linked before, but doubt they'd meet his salary demands and we'd probably price ourselves out of the market. Newcastle would probably pay both us and him but don't need him as they already have their own version. It depends who' s making their transfer decisions

And there's the problem, I don't think anybody plays what we think he's worth.

Personally I think we'd be lucky to get our money back.
Considering the ongoing contract situation it seems like even we won't pay him what he thinks he's worth.

He's fine as someone who can cause chaos and give the opponent reason to double or even treble up on him. I think for better teams who can exploit that space it would be a good option. But not for much more than £20-25m.

Klopp was seemingly a fan, and when Mane goes maybe he'll have a nibble.

But not at the cost of being in a bad place wrt midfield and central defence. If we have to lose a wide player to correct that it makes sense. One injury and were down to Cundle as first option off the bench.

As mentioned it depends how the money is invested. If they sell a forward to just sign another forward,‘it’s a pointless exercise.

Alledgedly Spurs we’re willing to pay £30m in the summer? Whether that was DoF or Nuno though, don’t know.

He’s certainly not going to a team like Liverpool. Newcastle is probably our best chance, or Burnley if they had money.

Sadly Leeds bought Dan James (how bad is he), so that ship has probably sailed

I'm all for options, but you're talking about 5 players for 2 positions when Neto is fit.

It's 1 too many for me, even if you factor in Hwang as someone who can play centrally.

If we had similar options at CM and CB and the club could afford it and Bruno could keep them happy I'd say fine

If we switch to a 4231 then it’s 5 for 3. Understand the point as the ability falls off a cliff outside our 3 first choice CMs. Would all depend how the money is invested Ofcourse.

Also when Podence is made of glass and 2 of our other forwards are on loan, I wouldn’t be so quick to sell players currently

What did we sign him for? 17m? Think we’d comfortably get that back

£18m I think.

Of course we'd get it back comfortably. Especially in a world where Doc goes for £15m. To think otherwise is just overstretching personal dislike of the player.

With 18 months on his contact and exorbitant wage demands I doubt we would.

As TT says everybody knows what he's about and the stats men would look at him and tell you he isn't worth that much.

...Just like our stats men did for Cutrone and Nelson and Fabio...

I think we would. Nowhere near £50m but i'd say promoted clubs and those anything below mid table would take a punt on him.
