Wolves 2 - 0 Aston Villa: May we never take this nosebleed for granted.

I presume the cut off to get in that team was 4.45 on Saturday

Would back the eleven we had out at the start of the second half to beat that - actually probably the eleven that started even with Costa not fully up to speed yet

Top of the league, one televised game and no more planned, players can’t get into team of the day. Could be a conspiracy theory developing - thank God we’ve had good refs who protect our players and give us the rub of the green now and again.....

Jota in the team of the week is perfect sense - playing him there clearly isn't

You have to wonder whether these pundits actually watch games at all

I can only assume they got him and Neves mixed up. I noticed the Birmingham Mail commented about Jota's volley that stung the keepers hands in the first half.

I'm not sure I want Steve Cotterill managing Diogo Jota thankyouverymuch.

Another gripe; when we put the highlights up on YouTube we don't overdub our own commentary, we just go with whatever stock commentator has been provided - it clearly isn't live commentary either - and the guy is fucking dismal. He seems to know about four of the players on the pitch at any given time (I think this time he knew Batth, Johnstone, Doherty and Snodgrass), the rest of the time he never mentions anyone by name. I mean I know £15.8m Champions League midfielder Ruben Neves is a bit obscure but at least make the effort.

Yeah the non-live dubbed commentary is terrible- I know Burrows gets stick, but at least with him on it the comms would be real and not some boring (/bored) twat mumbling fake comms over our highlights.

Isn't the Flum game on Sky?

TBF the uninitiated would have a hard time locating Jota on the pitch at all, given what his shirt actually says.

TBF the only time the Villa defenders would have worked out who he was was when he went past them & they could see the name on the shirt - far too late by then

Anyway, to swing this to a positive note from the media, Adrian Durham was actually nice to us. Actually a bit more than nice.

We were in his "ups" in "three up, three down"

To paraphrase - "I watched Wolves on Saturday night after finishing the Palace game. And they were AMAZING. It was like watching Man City football in the Championship. If you get any chance to get down there, or to watch Wolves this season, you absolutely have to take it."

Pretty high praise from a bloke who seems to have made a hobby out of giving us grief over the years, and it was genuine and enthusiastic.

Bruce is a dinosaur, the stuff he's coming out with just isn't relevant anymore and is symptomatic of why there are less and less English coaches at the top of the game.

If villa don't go up this season they're in danger of drifting. FFP is going to hit them and they'll lose parachute payments. The players they've signed have little resale value and any players that are decent will have to be sold to avoid penalties. Just as well they have lots of youth coming through...

Fairness Villa fans on WM tonight are full of praise for us bizarrely it’s albion and blues fans showing bitterness.

Yeah the old can they keep hold of those players in January though or remember what happened to other sides. What they don't realise is that these players aren't going anywhere because they know what's happening and we aren't those other sides, our players along with Nuno who is the main man are far too good.

From what I have been hearing from Albion fans in recent weeks, especially that old duffer Eddie, I get the impression that they are worried. After years of lording it over us they can see we're onto something special here and have a genuine chance of overtaking them within a couple of years. Still, they can keep banging on about the 5-1...

That bloke is the biggest WUM hypocrite I’ve ever heard, he even conceded that we actually played well Saturday. Still early days and nothing is done yet but they know if we did go up it would’nt take a huge amount of spending to move past them.

Yep ..... just making sure you were paying attention! Well actually I thought it had been moved for some other reason, completely passed me by that it’s on Sky! Conspiracy theory evaporating......

I've just watched the highlights again (I can't stop watching them!) and what struck me regarding Jota is his commitment to the cause, his energy and determination. After Costa had been put through by Jota in the first half and stopped by a great covering tackle from Hutton (yet again - how many goals would we have won by without him in their team?), Jota sprinted 30 yards over to Elmohamady and blocked his clearance, allowing Cavaleiro to set up another attack. He could have just sat back and admired his own initial pass, but no, he has to race over and try and win the ball back. What a player - we are so lucky to have him.
