Wolves 2 - 0 Aston Villa: May we never take this nosebleed for granted.

Cameron in central midfield.

It depends on your age I guess....

For me The 70's team would make the vast majority of my team, only exception would be Bully probably on the bench, along with Mutch.
The likes of Thommo, Dennison would at best make the bench, yet for me Thommo probably was the best since the 80's whether that is Nostalgia not sure....

If I was comparing say Irwin and McNamara at there best against thommo there was no comparison, but Irwin and McNamara in there one season was not as good as Thommo in his best for Wolves

Banging the Cameron drum again Dan? Wasn't he in your 6 for CM?

Prince played at RB for the U23s - I wonder if Nuno is planning something

I can hear Alan's excitement from here!

For me Doherty is good going forward and always has been, but a poor defender. So playing in a system where defending is a small part of his role he is always going to be a decent player.

I wouldn't want him in a 4-4-2.

You would think our U23's would have changed to a RWB if they had that in mind but I guess Oskar Buur had only played RB before we put him at RWB v Brizzle.

6th due to lack of options. My one point did not tip the scales :D

Made the side due to a lack of options I'd guess. We could have dropped votes for Ferguson in there to really cheer you up.

I'd bet if we ran again in the summer we'd see Neves drop in next to Rae

I prefer the "What to expect from Wolves" article. He was thinking that Hourihane and Whelan could dominate the midfield and that the pace and strength of Davies, Adomah and Kodija would cause us problems. The reasonable report that followed just showed how incorrect his thoughts were. Not being on the TV for a live game before it obviously lulled many a Vile fan into a false sense of security.

I couldnt help thinking and relating the report to several of ours over the last couple of seasons when we had someuseful players but just didnt gel as a team. That said that Villa squad is miles better than wolves 2015 or 2016. What I am enjoying at the moment , and long may it last , is the lack of pundits spouting the shite about 2 English players with championship experience" or " there is a way to fight your way out of the championsip".Or even " you wont get foreigners turning up and playing in a cold night in Hull" It really has gone a bit fucking quiet. Of course we may come unstuck. Seriously unstuck. We are a quarter of the way into the season. But I have seen more decent football matches involving Wolves in the last 15 games including cups than I did in all of last season. There have been 4 or 5 really good performances, playing to a plan, passing and moving, fast couterattcaking and , god forbid, strikers who can hit the target!

Villa have multiple issues.

1) Bruce doesn't really do tactics, by his own admission. He just buys players and sends them out to play. Like a better version of Dave Jones.

2) They've managed to build the slowest squad in the world. They have absolutely no dynamism in there at all. Some talent, but it's all so laboured.

3) They've bought too many of the same thing. So they have about four right wingers and four right backs, and two versions of the exact same thing in Whelan/Jedinak and Hourihane/Lansbury, but they're stupidly thin elsewhere.

4) Panic is starting to set in a little within the club and some parts of the fanbase now it's apparent that they aren't going to walk the league. They're already screwed on FFP (hence Bruce bleating about "balancing the books" this summer) and their parachute money drops at the end of the season. And they have precious few assets that they can cash in on. Huge chunks of their squad hold no value because they're old.

5) The owner is a clown and couldn't pick a manager to save his life.

They're much more likely to end up like Sheff Wed than they are Newcastle.

You'd probably (and rightly) see Saiss too, i think he has been superb, another than has improved five fold from last season.

Yes, Saiss has been magnificent this season and I wasn't at all keen last year.

I'm glad that we are able to see what we all knew was there though. Some rated him, some didn't, but I think we all knew he had the ability in there. And he looks a lot fitter.

He showed what he could do last season at times. Sadly he was hampered by being asked to babysit Ikeme and play countless Hollywood balls.

Saiss is class and quite easily capable of playing in the Premier League too imo. He always looked like a player who was struggling to play with shit players last year and that's come to fruition this season. I remember tweeting Spiers after the Cardiff away game last season when he said Saiss was poor by saying if he was poor what about Edwards and Saville and that he was struggling playing with said non-footballers, the reply i got was "oh that argument" Don't think he can say i or anyone else that thought the same and there were plenty were wrong.

He's played the most successful passes in the league so far and the majority of them have been one touch i would say and so far has been better than Neves this season, that's how good he's been because Neves has been class too.
