Wolves 1 Middlesbrough 0 - Verdict thread

I almost missed the game as there had been an accident on the M5 near Stroud, took me 1 hour to do 4 miles, then when I got home the chap who got my ticket hadn't printed it as he thought it would be uploaded to my Smartcard so I had to go to the ticket office at 2.50. Consequently I missed the first 5 minutes.

Glad I made it though, what a performance! I was impressed with all of the debutants, in particular Ruddy who was very commanding and made some great saves, Douglas, Boly and Neves who came back to help when Douglas had a spot of bother by the corner flag in the second half.

The defensive unit was immense and dealt with an impressive array of Boro attacking talent with ease. Last season there's no way that would have been a clean sheet.

It was also great to see Leo notch a debut goal. He took his chance very well from Ayala's error. Again, last season our forwards would have fluffed that. I was expecting him to kick it straight at the keeper or sky it.

I enjoyed the performance and result immensely and Nuno has the team well drilled and organised.

The only dissenting voice I heard was from the guy sat next to me he kept saying "I don't understand why they keep picking this ****** Docherty he would get no place in my team".

Maybe you were sitting next to Deutsch...

I would guess with a degree of certainty that is the line up with the least English qualified players we have ever put out. 2 plus one of the subs who came on, so 3/14.

Love the guy sat a few rows behind me who came with some top tactical tips for the team. My favourite being when Boro had a corner and just as they were about to take it...."DEEEEEEFEEEEND"

Fucking brilliant son.

My only moan from yesterday is our ability to make the half time mic stuff even worse than last season. Did they even tell Steve Daley who he was going to be speaking to at half time? His interview with Jody and his kids was horrendous "so which one of you had cancer?" and then turning to Jody "so Jody, tell us what Leukemia is and how it starts" The fuck type of question of question is that. That one took Jody by surprise

:icon_lol: and :face_palm:

One bloke behind me yelled 'fuckin gerrinto em!' when Boro were passing it along their back line. Which made me laugh as we had given them very few options in midfield by closing them down so well.

I wanted to turn around and say 'why? What's Ben Gibson going to do with it from there?'

Heard a few 'gerrit forward!' shouts as well throughout the 90 minutes.

It was the loudest I've heard the North Bank in ages actually - there seemed to be a lot of displaced South Bankers in the quadrant where we were. They looked very uncomfortable when sitting down.

The murmurs of appreciation when we did things well were noticeable (especially for THAT Neves pass).

I thought the atmosphere was pretty decent. A thoroughly enjoyable 90 minutes. And I confirm that for the 45 minutes when DW was sat next to me he didn't call Doherty anything rude at all. Most surprising.

Ikeme.

It was a late change so the original cover (which was Paul Ince) was on the third page I think.

Have to say I've been Sais biggest critic but that's the best I've seen him play, whilst Boro had there moments second half we still looked in good control defensively.
Some will say it wasn't a great game I thought it was a good contest between 2 sides trying to play a possession game.

In terms of chances, not the greatest but it was great to watch 2 team try and play football. The workrate we put in was brilliant, holding the shape, pressing etc it was no surprise that we look tired from around the 75th min and that allowed Boro into the game with more of the ball but they still created very little. One moment that sums up "New Wolves" came in the final moments, we won the ball back near our own corner flag, previous seasons that ball would have been thumped out of play or towards the back of the Steve Bull and then invite the pressure back on us but not this time. 4 quick passes out of the tight situation and Jordan Graham is released only to be hacked down and we win a free kick on the half way line and the game is won.

It was a VERY awkward cringeworthy interview.

who's the bald headed guy with mic on pitch pre match ?

Opening Game v Boro: Verdict thread

who's the bald headed guy with mic on pitch pre match ?
Jason Forrest. Who has been the pitchside announcer for many many years.

Steve Welch did it before him.

£45 for the season..not live games but highlights and you can see all streamed games about a day after complete..live radio games....etc etc

The delayed full game still isn't up, is there any info on when it will be other than ' roughly a day later?

I thought the sound system had been improved.

I could hardly hear anything (thank goodness after reading the comments above) and shouting was still happening. If its been improved then you don't need to scream down the microphone.
