Wolves 1 Middlesbrough 0 - Verdict thread

Agreed Jinky. There was so much class on the field today and for some players only doing that in 2nd or 3rd gear is quite exciting. That squad *should* be good enough to get us out this division. Just as much impressed by Nuno's man management too. There will be games we can play more attacking formations and I'm sure he won't be afraid too. But today everyone signed up to it and the highlight was the interchange of play in the middle of the field. I wouldn't want to sign much more to add to this team, one or two more players should do it but they can either wait until the end of the month or January. I went to the Forest game last year and this was miles ahead, the whole club has become more professional too just to add to things. We enjoyed the little side warm up before they came back out on the pitch for the second half also.

P.S. next time you/I are up for a game, I'll make sure to come by a drinking hole. Today was a rush job...

Who cares? Jesus, let others have an opinion that differs from yours. This place will (continue to) be an echo chamber if you knock everyone that has a difference in opinion.

Well said.

I've been nothing but positive today, but people are going overboard on what was just a decent performance. Personally I thought if anything Saiss was better than Neves today. Neves was great against Leicester IMO. He was alright today.

Sounds like we will have a lot of games like this over the season. We've not created bucketloads of chances in any preseason game either.

Defensively undoubtedly we will be hard to break through, but I'm not sure this set up will bring the best out of our offensive players. I'm sure the forward players also need time to gel, but we'll see how the season pans out from here.

That said, this is a fantastic win, regardless of whether the performance was quite everything we wanted. A draw probably would have been fair. I'm not complaining though. I'll take 1-0 every week.

Today was a good day, lets enjoy that and take the positives. We all know that was a massive performance from the team today, AND we can all see there is more to come. Enjoy the year, has some more disagreements on here too...(and don't shut people down for them)

Strange how you didn't pick others up for the same thing isn't it?

Bit of a cuntish thing to do really on such a positive day, especially as all I did was disagree with a point of view, something you have advocated in your rant.

I don't agree (is this allowed jlovatt?) as I thought a Neves was the best player on the pitch from both teams.

Isn't it refreshing to talk about how good A, B and C were rather than how crap X, Y and Z are.

I agree with most of that, except a 6 for Boly? Come on Tim!

I think the reason I'm probably guilty of the above is just how different a performance it was compared to the last game I attended.

It's still early days of course but we actually looked like a footballing side and in various parts of the game we looked very comfortable.

It's incredibly refreshing. No one played badly. (Though I'd give MOTM to Neves...)

Agree there definitely Langers. It was great to watch a wolves team trying to play football with a definite plan and formation.

We beat the stand out favourites for this division. If we are above them in May then I think we will be playing premiership football next season. We know we are a work in progress but the start point for that work looks more advanced than last year by a long way. Lots to build on. I am particularly pleased how well Ruddy is doing. He could prove to be a real key signing for us.And we have a goal a game centre forward! Let's hope he gets his second quickly! All round very pleased. Now lets build on it.

It was nice to hear most of the people around where I was sitting being patient and positive about the Wolves there was none of this "gerrit forward" attitude. Perhaps they were in shock :icon_cool: The only dissenting voice I heard was from the guy sat next to me he kept saying "I don't understand why they keep picking this ****** Docherty he would get no place in my team".
PS I was disappointed not to have met up with people. I was in the Western at 12.30. wandered around for a while but without knowing anbody's face who was there, almost impossible. I was just hoping someone would recognise an old guy wandering around with a stick but it was not to be ah well better luck next time.

On the Boro forums, the general view is that we should have had a penalty too.

Yeah, just watched the C5 highlight and it was a definite pen on Bright.

Aw no - sorry you didn't find us, Vic. We were there til around 1-1.30. Its thee busiest I've known it in there for a long time so I guess it was tricky to spot folks when you didn't know what we looked like!

Next time, we'll get Paddy to wear a rose in his lapel.

Haha - Vic and I were probably both lapping the Western at the same time - M6 screwed my plans up - at least we had the Bohemian Rhapsody afterwards.

I'm gunna be controversial.....thought the C5 highlights show was pretty good, much better than previous seasons, quite like Murray and Mickey, a lot less waffle in the studio and more action. Specifically from a Wolves perspective, I would have liked to see a bit more of the 1st half when we were in control but overall thought it was pretty even handed coverage and Murray did say the game should have been wrapped up when we should have had a stonewall penalty

Definitely much better. I like Murray and Mickey came across well too. I just wish they would do proper highlights of all the games, not the standing by the tv talking about games weirdness.
