Wolves 1-2 Spurs: Verdict Thread

It wasn't Paddy, it really wasn't. It's a shithouse tackle, knowing exactly what he's doing

Eventually we will end up with a broken Adama and no set pieces, so how about referees deeming it dangerous play and sending some fucker off.

You can't do that as some sort of accumulation though. He was crocked by different players

But at least two of them were dangerous - look at the still of the big nose cheat with his legs wrapped round him. If you wipe people out at the speed you risk doing them serious harm.

On a slightly different note, Patricio, any thoughts there? Could he have done better today?

Could have done better on the first. Not a lot of chance with the second, which was an excellent header.

I can't be too livid, as we gave those 2 opportunities to spurs. Yes, we were the better team across the whole game, but that first is due to patricios poor kick (arguably coady shouldn't have passed it to him), and the second saw 2 spurs players both having the opportunity of a free header on goal.

Think Cutrone for Raul could've been worth making in the 2nd half. It wasn't quite working for raul, and with so many on yellows, it could've been worthwhile.

I know we'll see a reaction from the team though.

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

This is what the law says, but does the nature of the player being fouled come into consideration? A foul against Traore when he is running at speed is different to the same tackle against Neves. Traore’s safety is more endangered.

Ref should have spoken to Spurs captain, Kane, and warned them that a line would be crossed if cynical fouls with no hope of getting the ball continued but he was happy for Traore to continue to be assaulted. Pathetic, weak refereeing but hardly a surprise. I really think we need our players to swarm around players who foul Adama and intimidate them and get them a second yellow. Really get in their faces and provoke them. Meet fire with fire!

Disappointing end to a game we dominated. Agree with LJ would have brought Cutrone on for last 20 mins as not much was working for Raul.

VAR had a chimp in just randomly pushing buttons - & Attwell needs to retire.

Moutinho's Spurs are a cynical bunch of cunts.

Livid with that. Livid with the result which was completely undeserved, livid with Spurs’ ‘tactics’ which were just basically assaulting Traore and diving, and livid with that cunt Atwell for yet again being an absolutely monumental fuckhead and favouring his cockney chums. No way we should have been losing that game, we outclassed them for the full 90 but gave them two chances which we shouldn’t have and they took them.

Easily one of the best displays I’ve seen down here, we were that good, and it’s a travesty we lost. Raul looked a bit out of sorts and nothing quite came off for him but everywhere else we were fantastic. These sorts of ‘tackles’ on Traore really need harsher punishment, no intent to play the ball only the man and it’s only a matter of time before he gets seriously injured. Disgraceful stuff.

I wish you wouldnt sit on the fence mate!

I dont care what anyone says, the dier tackle on traore was absolute red. On purpose, no aim to play the ball, hacking down a full speed player from behind. Might as well have been the last defender.

Everything else has been said, we played really well on both sides except in seconds that it mattered- right in front of goal and lapses of concentration in defending.
We really need that world class heading defender that boly brings, we werent a threat a set pieces and shaky in the air defensively. As much as I like saiss hes just not a starter, just continues with his stupid shit all the time. Wrestling and kicking players when youre on a yellow and you know the ref is looking for an excuse to send us off.
Coady just doesnt work against physical forwards too, especially in a 3-4-3 and without boly to take the brunt. Hes too slow, small and weak in comparison. Neves isnt that good defensively in front of him, and without moutinho making so many interceptions and tackles wed be conceding a lot more.
If we dont address the defensive issues we wont be challenging for a top 6 spot, regardless of how well we play.

I thought Coady had a superb game [emoji136]

One of the best displays we've ever put on in the PL. Came away with nothing but we just have to carry on playing that well.

Of course, you don't lose by accident.

- Awful kick by Rui on the first and then I'll have to look back to see if he could have done better. Fierce hit but it's near stick

- Raul has to bury his first half chance

- Doc's delivery was rubbish all game, not sure he completed one cross

- Set pieces were poor. We miss Boly so much in that respect, there's hardly anyone to aim at against a tall team (Donck/Saiss are ok in the air but they aren't beating the likes of Alderweireld from a standing start)

- FFS Donck, put the ball out, it's more or less game done if we do that. Although it wasn't like it was just down to him, we had the ball for ages

Moutinho was simply exceptional.

Disappointing result but we move on, play that way and we even have a chance against City/Liverpool.

Please stop chucking pints everywhere and smashing glasses if you're going to sit on a table booked in my name...

On the Adama issue:

Rugby teams get warned (through the captain) that any further persistent, cynical fouling will get punished with a yellow card. Even if the offence itself isn't particularly serious, if it's deliberately stopping the game through foul play, whoever it is after that warning gets the punishment.

We could incorporate that into football, but obviously red instead of yellow. We can see what you're doing, as captain sort it out or someone is walking, you can't just rotate who hacks him down.

Attwell was bloody awful in the second half. Yet not even one of the worst five games I've seen him have.

I really can’t get bent out of shape in losing to one of the big six having comprehensively outplayed them in most areas of the park. Unlucky today and shit happens. I will be disappointed to lose at Norwich

Im probably being overly critical, but we were horribly organized for that second goal. Nobody on the posts, three players standing in front of rui with their thumb in their arse. Put a body on their tall players, dont make it so fucking easy.

We don’t man mark though, and haven’t since Nuno joined. We were disorganised as Adama was not well and we didn’t cover his spot properly.

To me it was horrific defending, even a league one team with 1-2 players good in the air is scoring from that.
