Wolves 1-2 Norwich: The Verdict

Zenga take note at whats just unfolded at Villa. Extend this losing run by another 2 games and WZ is toast.

And Swansea this afternoon, there is very little patience in football these days.

It will be particularly interesting how patient Fosun will be considering Zenga wasn't their first choice as manager.

Guidolin amassed 32 points from 25 games (9 wins, 5 draws). 25 (24 league games) games is almost a full season so he can have no complaints there. Di Matteo had only 10 points from his 11 league games and only 1 win (and a loss in the cup), that's just flat out not good enough at any level for a club like Villa in this division given the money they have spent.

WZ seems OK for now, 4 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses seems a reasonable start and even 2 more losses isn't cause for that much concern.

Both got exactly what they deserved.

I think WZ would survive another two defeats. What I don't want to see is Bruce at Villa, as he'd be on my very short list to replace Walter

No chance do I ever want Bruce here. Especially not with this squad.

In a way I'm not too worried about our results, Its frustrating if we don't pick up but I have confidence that Fosun won't let it go on for long and would bring someone else in and try again. I want Walter to succeed but I'm not convinced the way he has set us up is the way forward - our defence isn't good enough to soak up the pressure we invite. Having said that if we can have a fit Dicko or Bod as a focal point it would go a long way to helping.

I agree with this so much I thought for a split second I'd wrote (typed) it

Zenga isn't the answer, never was, never will be. I like him and his passion, I want him to work out, but I've seen too much now to know it won't

Unfortunately I think you're both right. I'm also not convinced that the 'Wolves Way' isn't a system conceived by Thelwell as both Jackett and Zenga have now set up this way.

It isn't working as a counter attacking side and never will in this division as the sides are too direct and not possession focused, which for counter attacking football to be truly effective pace and power on the break is key.

Surely we are not considering Zengas replacement already. Let's give him a chance.

We know the owners won't tolerate anything less than a proper tilt at the top six (nor should they) and we don't look especially likely to do it as it stands.

I like the guy, I'm not calling for his head yet but there have been multiple halves so far that have been totally unacceptable, we don't have an especially strong tactical identity at this stage (I'd struggle to tell you what 'type' of football Zenga plays), he has far less rope than any other manager we've ever had down here just because of circumstances, especially when coupled with his lack of a track record and rumours of an erratic personal life (ie since he arrived here, nothing to do with past allegations).

He needs results quickly because the more we sink into hit and miss mid table form, the more his position becomes untenable under Fosun. It's a harsh world but that's where we are.

Jeff made the target clear. By January be in or close to the top 6. If come December we are not hitting that target, Walter will be getting nervous.

Jeff made a point in the FP that Zenga's previous clubs 'didn't show enough patience' which suggest he'll be given the season, unless we found ourselves in danger zone at Xmas

Have to agree with Frank here.

Depends on the reading of the post on this. All bar one post haven't called for his head at all just pointing out that the Chinese mafia almost certainly won't tolerate mid-table mediocrity (sp).

We won't be in any danger of relegation regardless but I think you're very much mistaken if you think they'll be content for us to bounce around between 10th and 18th all season.

we need to raise our game and stop rotating too much at the back..hopefully Dicko can produce same magic as last season(remains to be seen after the injury), maybe we can strenghten our goalie and a centre back in january window i hope..

We've played the same centre halves for four games in a row and Doherty is an ever present (whether he should be is another question) so I don't think rotation enters into the equation now.
