Wolves 0 - Charlton 0 The most frustrating verdict thread

I think ower flanks all afternoon was powderpuff. Henry, VLP and Edwards when he reverted there. For me to ask Edwards to run the flank for a further 20 minutes after doing the donkey work behind the striker for the previous 70 was a little naive on Jacketts part.

I suppose it doesn't help when your full backs are actually centre backs as the natural width and overlap is mostly negated without the opposition having to really do anything about it, but shoving Edwards out left is the old square peg - round hole I was hoping we'd grown out of. I think the big problem really is your central midfielders sitting so deep, the natural way forward is to go wide as you don't have enough men to work through the middle in the final third. It's also pretty surprising that van la Parra got the MotM award after the comments from the majority.

To be fair if we were going to score it was only coming from the right hand side, we didn't have a left hand side all afternoon for me.

I don't think that's true Booz, with 2 men deep options of moving through the thirds central or wide should always be there. I do think we only need 1 deep midfielder in games like this as you've said.

I hope Lingaard does come in and play in the #10 role as a genuine AM and with Sako back our front 4 should have enough movement and options for McD to be his creative best. I don't see a role for Edwards in this team.

He got 90% of our possession today, like last week as there is no one else to give it to. And he occasionally does something, which is more than anyone else today, but he flatters to deceive. The fact that in two home games where he has seen so much ball he has only managed to create one goal scoring opportunity is s tad disappointing. And that effort was a tad fortuitous.

He hasn't played one all season, he doesn't need to say anything his actions have spoken.

Oh, like playing Leon Clarke when Dicko was injured? Reckon that was his plan all along?

That's piss poor recruitment and Clarke was played deep with Dicko too. That's piss poor management when the #10 from last season was sitting on the bench.

If you only have 1 striker of type in your squad at the start of the season then that's just plain shite management across the club.

And having a #10 who obviously isn't good enough isn't? That's probably the most contradictory argument you could have put forward.

What are you dribbling on about Booz? How can you say Jacobs isn't good enough at #10 he hasn't been given a chance this season in that position?

The fact we've changed style, gone a little more direct and moved the ball wide as quickly as possible also tells me KJ doesn't want a #10 otherwise we'd have got one on loan and kept the style of play the same as last season.

Dribbling? Cut the snide comments eh, what is it with certain peoples' needs to constantly try put other posters down and make them look stupid? KJ decides who's good enough for the first team, and by all accounts Jacobs' few performances this season have been shit. If KJ thought he was good enough he'd have played him. Maybe we've changed style because Edwards isn't cutting as a #10 either and KJ hasn't been able to find a suitable replacement?

Or in your eyes, he doesn't want one.

Jacobs has had 0 starts in his best position, I think that is what grates with people (and swapping RBs today while leaving him unused makes it worse).

I know Kenny has started Jacobs out of position when he has bothered to acknowledge him, but he's obviously a bit-part player at best in KJ's eyes now. To say he doesn't want a #10 just because he hasn't picked Jacobs is daft.

No need to get so bent out of shape, it's a figure of speech. If KJ didn't think Jacobs was good enough to play at #10 in the same role (he's played exclusively on the left this season for some reason) then you'd think he would've replaced Jacobs at or before the start of the season or at least by the end of August wouldn't you?

He hasn't and more to the point still hasn't through the loan window. The change in style of play has occurred from August onwards. These two occurrences tell me he has had no interest in a ball playing #10 to date. He may change it but I don't see why he will.

Yes. Like I thought he'd have replaced Clarke. This isn't Football Manager.

I don't see your patronising point? Is this about your lack of knowledge of football clubs and recruitment or the poor linking of Wolves recruitment and playing style? It seems to have irked you?

KJ spent £1m on Saville who is a deep lying midfielder not a #10 when he clearly knew he wasn't going to use Jacobs in that role. Do you not think that money would have been used to get a ball playing #10 in if he wanted one? Also with the loan market used this season do you not think a ball playing #10 would be a prority if all you had was Dave Edwards?

George Saville isn't a deep lying midfielder.

He's not a #10 either which I think is Johnny's point.

I disagree that we got the ball wide as soon as possible. The reason it was easy to defend against yesterday was because that's exactly what we didn't do. We worked it wide and therein lies the difference, we weren't playing quick first time balls to the flanks it would go from one centre half to the other to the full back or from Price to McDonald or vice versa and then an attempt to move it wide, too slow and pedestrian.

Add in one full back who rarely overlaps, a right sided winger on the left, a right footed attacking midfielder on the left, but not really offering width and a winger whos delivery in the main is very poor - all of which happened at some point yesterday and you get the type of insipid performance we delivered.

I don't think I know What Saville's position is but he's been shit wherever he has played for us. Football manager has him down as a DM if that means anything....

Don't think he is cup tied so maybe he will play for brizzle today?

An inept display by us. Massively disappointed with result as they were terrible. Getting really fed up of Dicko's diving about. More interested in trying to start a fight at the end. Someone compared Afobe to MacAllinden god that's a depressing thought. On the plus side a clean sheet and a point. We are so slow through mid field it is pathetic. Price had a shocker. But the worst criticism must be saved for the manager again too negative no plan B. Henry switched sides after rubbish start a and looked like he could be dangerous but was switched back. Kenny doesn't know his best side. I'm sure we have a chance at the playoffs but I fear KJ is lost in all his own tinkering. He started off with great signings now he signs anyone he can make a case for and they are out as fast as they come in.
