Wolves 0 - Barnsley 4 verdict thread

Until your solid defensively its a continuous struggle so in my opinion Walter Zenga has to provide that framework first.

I wasn't having a pop more being quizzical. I guess we have different philosophies on how we would like our club to operate, likely never to agree but that's football I guess.

Well for all those that said getting rid of Stearman was wrong, they only have to watch the complete shitfest he produced last night. For all the midfield and forwards we've brought the crap at the back remains the same. Thelwell should be shot for thinking keeping it the same then bringing Stearman back is a good thing.. Awful from our so called main recruiter..

For me in all its simplicity - the amount of times we had the ball in and around the half way line without another Wolves player within 20 yards in front of the player with the ball was incredible. No movement whatsoever by Wallace or Mason to "show" as an outlet it's no wonder the ball kept going sideways and back. Contrast this to Barnsley who over and over again won the ball around their own area and two or three passes later it was around or in our area. Play it simple run into space give an outlet. Don't let the thrower look round like he is counting the people with Wolves shirts on and not give him an option. Simple simple stuff we didn't do throughout the game but for 10 to 15 minutes after half time.

Lets face it. Wallace is fucking crap and Mason is fucking crap..

Stears was ok on Sat. Hard to say it was the wrong decision based on last night when everyone else was crap too.

Ikeme played well on Saturday too. In fact I don't think he's done much wrong this season.

Trying to get Pep take notice of him that is for sure. After Cruyff turning Jamie Ward on Saturday he decided he need to do that again but up against 2 forwards this time.

I don't think Average Joe is crap, just... Average.

Wallace just might be crap though. I've held out on judging him for a long time now but I've seen him have far too many shit games at this level. There's just nothing special about him at all, very run of the mill.

Lets face it. Wallace is $#@!ing crap and Mason is $#@!ing crap..

I think Wallace is decent he's proved a few times this season he can have an impact although his end product is shocking last night he should have put us 1-0 up or least have his shot on target but literally rolled the ball in to the side netting and his delivery is pretty dire as a whole.

Mason has glimpses but nothing more he is the definition of mediocre.

Grim.

Danny Batth on their 4th :icon_lol:

3rd goal... Haven't seen back-pedalling like that since Roger Johnson vs Yaya Toure

Good post, agree.

Fair enough Slink that's your opinion. I thought Wallace was shocking, technically average, yes he ran hard but that doesn't make up for his decision making which wouldn't be out of place on a Sunday league pitch. Nowhere near good enough tonight and guilty of wasting 2 clear cut goal and 3 passing opportunities.

Batth did give up on the last goal looking at the highlights but I think you're wrong on his distribution, other than that I though he did well against Winnall and Armstong. Stearman's distribution was so poor it was only bettered by Ikeme's, highlighted by one knock down header that went straight out of play, comically bad.

I think you're being harsh on Costa as he was clearly told to play on the full back as we changed formation and it was only when Iorfa was taken off that Hammill ran riot against a shocking Coady. Again we'll have to agree to disagree on Coady in the first half, it's not his fault he doesn't have Tex's vision and he can't really play as a creative midfielder.

On Bod, he rinsed MacDonald twice in each half and it was Tex's pass that put him in on goal. He won plenty of headers but Wallace and Mason displayed sloth like thinking and anticipation as to where the 2nd ball would be.

I agree that Wallace's end product was shocking but he got in the positions for us to be able to say that, he was the one that had his end product improved would have been the difference. The others didn't come close to being anywhere to have an end product.

Batth did ok against Winnall and Amrstrong although how Winnall missed with his header in the second half i'm not quite sure but he isn't comfortable on the ball. He did have many options last night but when he has had options he isn't quite sure what to do. Stearman's distribution was fine to start with and maybe did get worse but he does look calm on it and like he wants to play.

Maybe a bit harsh on Costa as i agree he was told to get at the full back but that doesn't mean you abandon all your defensive responsibilities and he did. If Coady doesn't have the creativity of Teixeira then he shouldn't try to be that player. Some of the passes he attempted were baffling for a player with his ability. He didn't do what he did well on Saturday.

Bod didn't rinse MacDonald at all, he went down the outside of him once in the second half and MacDonald recovered easily to block it for a corner. That has to be the least headers Bod has won in a game this season too, both MacDonald and Roberts won more than he did. Nothing against Bod there i think the service was shite but the 2 centre halves played him well.

Honeymoon is over. A wee tip Zenga, stop throwing players at a tactics board and see who sticks. You should know your best XI by now. By the way, if Wolves are in the same league position come Xmas Zenga will be out the door.
Ive a feeling the Fosun lads will not accept many results like last night.
