Not really digging out Adama as he was ok today (bar that time he ignored Fabio one side, Podence the other and hit a shite shot straight at Emi) but it's now NINETEEN league games without a goal or assist, and almost an entire calendar year without a league goal.

He absolutely has to do more, as do the other forwards in fairness.

Absolutely fair. I'm an Adamapologist but he looks significantly less likely to score or assist than the other two wide forwards. That is not a good record

It's on Nuno to get the right setup for him, coach him into the current setup or just bench him.

We’ve definitely lost our identity. I have no doubt Nuno’s plan (and recruitment as a result of) in the summer was to evolve 3-4-3/3-5-2. Now for whatever reason he has decided to move to a back 4.

I found the 5 at the back was getting dull, we were hard to watch etc. But the system could have easily been evolved to make that not the case without having to rip it up completely (more men ahead of the ball, more adventure from CM, higher line, width from WBs).

I wanted the 4-2-3-1 to work, and we are more entertaining creating more chances. But we’re still not scoring and conceding more.

So maybe we just need to go back to basics and do plan A better. 5 at the back and pace in attack.

At the start of the season I said to my son that I expected the first third of the season to be tough as we changed style and integrated the new players, that the second third we’d be ok and then we’d be really good the last third.
I’m ok with our points so far - but the performances are worrying me as there are no signs really that we have evolved and will be clicking soon.

I actually think Adama has improved lately because he’s not just being channelled down towards the corner flag, he’s coming inside and passing it to create chances.

the problem I have with him at the moment is that he’s just not involved enough. When he’s not on the ball, he’s not contributing - pod and Neto work back when we don’t have the ball and make runs off the ball when we do.

he is winning a lot of headers though, which is good because no one else is really. We’re quite a small team now in comparison to everyone else.

Can’t help think we’ve gone for revolution rather than evolution. Could we not have tried getting Coady to push forwards more and play in front of the other CHs and that would help push us up the pitch?

I like the idea but I cant see where we play Neto and Podence, arguably two of our better players

Silva and one of Neto or Podence, I'd go with the former. We haven't got the players for a false 9, so Silva has to play, but you need to get someone alongside him

As much as I am hurt and dissapointed in losing to that shower of fucking shit.

We were never in danger of conceding but for Semado having a Brain Fart.

We looked ok going forward, silva I thought was really good be linked the play well and was unlucky with his shot that hit the post.

The ref smiling and fist pumping the Villa players needs lucking at.

He was awful, foul On Podence gives it the other way no touch by Mouts....

We're using a career DM as our most advanced midfielder a lot of the time and expecting a level of finishing which isn't part of his skill set. Would have liked to see us be more proactive + positive with the subs today - Dendoncker should have come off a bit earlier and it would have surely been worth giving Vitinha a go, or even just bringing on Ait-Nouri for Marcal like we used to with Vinagre coming on.

I did. Got to be Silva and to me Podence is the most natural fit out of him and Neto, but its hard to leave Neto out atm imo
