this post is like a breath of fresh air on this threadI’m confused by those who think we were shit today. I thought we had to grow into each half but when we took control we were the team who created the best chances, and that unfortunately is what was our problem today. We need to create chances where it isn’t Donck, for all his great running, to be the one on the end of it. Thought Fabio was very unlucky with his effort.
just before the penalty I honestly was thinking to myself that Semedo had done pretty well against Grealish, with some support of Dendoncker and Coady. But it’s a terrible thing to do at that stage of the game. I don’t agree with those saying he is Sunday league etc but we do need some more consistency from him. In possession he allows us to stay on the ball for longer as he is good under pressure from opponents, and he combines wel with others. We just haven’t had a 90 minute performance from him, which is why I understand concerns around him.
That is what we all want . I don't know any 37 or 39 year old strikers who have ever done that at the highest level in my lifetime.Just want us to get a striker that score goals in, even just on a loan deal..if that offends people, fine..
he is on the bench at ajax, im sure he could do a job short term for us..we are desperateThat is what we all want . I don't know any 37 or 39 year old strikers who have ever done that at the highest level in my !ifetime.
On the basis we’re not going to get Zlatan anyway....That is what we all want . I don't know any 37 or 39 year old strikers who have ever done that at the highest level in my !ifetime.
The alternative is to play the same players all the time until they retire."We just have to accept that this will be a transition season." People say that all the time, as thought there is some automatic certainty that we will bounce back in 21/22. You simply cannot assume that. Players leave/get injured/get older. Absolutely no guarantee of being a top 7 team again in 21/22

It's obvious there is a transition occuring now, we've changed our formation of 3 years and learning how to play with a different style / mentality.
We need to evolve, if we don't and we have no succession plan then as soon as the nucleus ages we start to plummet.
It's not great where we are right now, but at least it shows a bit of ambition and thinking about the future.
Ok you've sold me.he is on the bench at ajax, im sure he could do a job short term for us..we are desperate
Oh I agree the execution doesn't look great right now but it might take time. I think we're a quality midfielder and striker between Raul and Silva short right now.If it cocks up then it shows a sprinkling of hubris too. I don't fancy plummeting before the nucleus has aged!
The logic of evolving is sound, I think it's fair to question the timing and extent of it.
I think we all expect it to take time, but a dozen games is long enough for a fair assessment of how the initial stages have gone, I feel?Oh I agree the execution doesn't look great right now but it might take time.
Not really digging out Adama as he was ok today (bar that time he ignored Fabio one side, Podence the other and hit a shite shot straight at Emi) but it's now NINETEEN league games without a goal or assist, and almost an entire calendar year without a league goal. It's a tight league bar the bottom five, I feel we're in a fair position based on our performances, but our remaining December fixtures are very concerning, especially if our unconvincing and uninspired form continues. Need a spark from one or two of our stars
We're far from a relegation team, but there should be difficult questions asked if we were to finish (I know it's some way off!) much lower than where we are now.Deeply frustrating, we just are lacking for a pattern of play right now, I don't think we've worked out what it is that we want to do. Of course we shouldn't be losing that game on the balance of chances at either end but it's very easy to leave yourself in that position when you don't have enough goals on the pitch.
I mean, there's stuff to be positive about. Saiss was good on his return, Marçal has impressed in pretty much every game he's played, Moutinho is over that mini-dip he had, Podence and Neto always look bright, that's the most promise we've seen out of Fabio to date, his movement is good and you can't seriously be critical about the shot off the post, how it doesn't either go in off the inside of the upright OR come straight back out into the middle of goal I don't know.
But overall we're clearly short of our best, we aren't imposing ourselves on games, we aren't looking as dangerous on the counter as we did previously, we do allow the opposition to play too much (possession isn't everything of course and I don't really want us knocking the ball around in a sterile Hoddle-esque fashion) and we're in a difficult run of fixtures now - on paper at least, anyway.
There'll be no danger at all of relegation as three of the bottom four are absolutely shit and Sheff Utd are very unlikely to come back from THAT start. So no hyperbole required there. However we could do with some more cohesion and above all some more bloody goals.
I can't remember how many games we've started with a back four but we started the season with 3 ATB.I think we all expect it to take time, but a dozen games is long enough for a fair assessment of how the initial stages have gone, I feel?
I think I understand what Nuno is trying to get us to do, I'm not sure it needed to be done this season, or that we have the personnel to make it a roaring success any time soon, and right now the previous transfer window looks an odd one.
