I think “decent” is more than fair when you consider the results above. I wouldn’t read too much in to my comments earlier in the thread. I’ve said it 100 times - this season has had some massive highs, and some disappointing off days (see above). But we’re newly promoted and are going to be inconsistent, just like most of the sides outside of the top 6.

I think it’s also fair to look at the results and performances above and to reflect on what might have been, had we turned even 3-4 of those in to wins. Ultimately, it’s an area Nuno & co will be looking to improve on next season and I have total faith that he’ll do that, because it’s not a given that we will take as many points off the big boys next season.

There are some posters on here who embarrass themselves falling over to complain whenever someone dares to critique the side (which they’re entitled to do). I’ve been to plenty of games this season and will comment as I see fit whether I’ve been in the ground or not. Throwing in comments such as “armchair fan” and suggesting those who go every week are somehow superior than those that don’t, is far worse than any comment I’ve read that happen to be slightly critical of the performance.

Each to their own, though.

I think you have very high expectations if this is only a decent season, but as you say each to their own. A promoted side hasn’t finished in the top six in their first season in nearly 20 years I believe, and even that was in an entirely different landscape financially. I think we have had an excellent season. Had you told me we’d be on 48 points with four games remaining, I really doubt many would have turned their nose up at it or asked which teams we had beaten to get those points before deciding whether it was a good season or not.

I also agree regarding ‘armchair’ comments. It isn’t necessary.

Ahh well, one of those. Bit slow up front, which caused us a few challenges and meant we didn't really pull Brighton out of shape.

Johnny played OK but his lack of dynamism in attack really hindered us, meant we could only attack down the right and Brighton nullified that.

Nuno got his subs wrong again, bot of a common thread imo and something for him to really work on, Traore on as RWB was a complete waste, barely touched the ball and Brighton couldn't drop deeper than they were already playing.

Thought Vinagre had a great 15/20 mins, probs should have started.

Lift a trophy = excellent.
Good league position finish = good.

Armchair watching vs in ground watching = totally different feel and vibe for the game, neither is better or definitive.

Our highest league position in however many years is an excellent season to me.

Disagree on the subs. Vinagre was good (if should have been on earlier), Donck nearly got the winner twice and Traore actually played quite well I thought in the ten minutes he was on the pitch.

Think that's what I tried to say badly. When I'm in the ground I tend to feel more involved and better disposed to the team. I know I'm more critical when watching on TV.

I think that it's unfair to expect to beat established premier league sides such as Newcastle, Palace, Burnley and Southampton or class those games as gimme's. They've all been reasonable over the second half of the season. We were shit against Huddersfield, have had the most shots without scoring against Brighton in a premier league double header since 2010, bettered our results at home against Cardiff and away at Fulham compared to last season. It's been our best season since 1980.

Yes there are a few what might have beens but overall we've exceeded my expectations.

Mate, if someone had said that to me I’d have snapped your arm off too! But surely in a roundabout way you’re agreeing with me? We’d have both been delighted with 48 points at the start of the season - but equally, we’d have both probably been a bit disappointed if someone had told us we’d fail to beat Huddersfield & Brighton in 4 x games? That’s literally all I’m saying when I suggested it could have been even better.

(Also, I really don’t think there’s a great deal of difference between “decent” and “excellent” - they’re very similar words :icon_lol:)

To be honest I don’t really care where the points from! If you made me decide who I’d rather beat i would pick the top six though to be totally honest. Dan made a good point about that the other day I thought

Haha - fair enough. Though Aiki clearly thought there was a difference too!

Fair point, I'll refine my subs comment to "we shouldn't play Adama at right wingback" but Vinagre and Donck actually did well.

Seventh is excellent, as were (probably) in Europe, which would be great and help our recruitment. Eight to tenth is very good.

I’ll be disappointed if we don’t finish seventh because we’ve done so well, but it’s not the end of the world, would still be a very good season.

Agreed, thought when watching at home I have a much clearer view (the camera angle from TV provides a totally different view of structure to standing low down in the south bank).

As an example, I don't often think Donck plays that well... Until I watch us on TV and see how much off the ball work he does (not hating on him btw, he has played very well since bringing him in).

Should have won by a fucking street. Didn't.

Brighton are an abomination.

I'm a bit luckier, standing in the top row of a mainly seated BQ lower tier is a really good view. Some of the work Donck gets through is really good and his first touch is quality - something MGW could work on.

Don't get me wrong, I really like our seats, give me a great view of goals at the south bank end and you can see the lines from front to back but that doesn't really show you the tactics. And tbh, I'm a big fan of the passion side of football.

As an aside, anyone else visit the fanpark? Enjoyed playing football darts and pass and shoot on our way to Molineux. Tbh we should have left the RL and enjoyed some time in the sun earlier (though I'm guessing the beer was terrible).

We have seen plenty of this now and it still hasn't been addressed. Otto is fabulous defensively but isn't going to run a full back ragged and we knew Brighton would be defensive so Vinny not starting is baffling to say the least.

I can understand the inclusion of MGW but it didn't work and for me I still don't think we know what his best position is.

Hopefully these problems will be ironed out over the summer.

Exactly this.

I think we forget how small our squad is and how far we've come in such a short space of time.

People need to get some perspective. Summer recruitment is key and I'm sure it will be addressed.

Moutinho MOTM for me. The man is pure class.

Jinky you're a bellend, get a grip

Next year we will beat all the poor teams and not win against any of the top six!

Such is life. We are Wolves!

Looking forward to Wednesday.

Traore was fucking shite when he came on. Tipified by Moutinho who gave him a bollocking for standing still when he could've got forward

Sooner we sell this beach footballer the better. As Jonny Philips said we need a bench

I was getting so frustrated in the first half, MGW kept getting in great positions between the lines where he'd be able to turn and link with Raul and Jota but we were way too cautious in possession and went sideways.

Generally it was an ok performance, particularly when Vinagre came on and stretched them. We've played worse and won games. I just think had we been braver in possession with MGW we'd have been able to isolate their central defenders.

We are better when we are the ones keeping our shape, busting our gut and keeping calm then breaking with pace. But we're not a shitpile, we do it well. Rather than being the ones with more possession and trying to break down the blob.

That what it feels like. Perhaps it's just the transition from one league to the next.

EDIT: is it something that's followed us from the champ? Did we do better against teams trying to play rather than doing bugger all? I don't know, just a shower thought

Completely out of order and worthy of a ban. I'm sure it won't happen though.
