Wolves 0-0 Brighton: Verdict Thread

At some stage though, 'being unlucky' becomes something more serious. Four games against Brighton and Huddersfield, no goals

The two games against Huddersfield weren’t unlucky - they were our worst performances of the season. I don’t think anyone disagrees with that (oh look - the team aren’t immune from criticism).

Against Brighton we have had some misfortune with a lack of quality too. We are a promoted side though - we aren’t the finished product and it’s not the end of the world or “embarrassing” as I’m seeing it called.

We weren't unlucky in the 2 games against Huddersfield, we were shit.

This game, we were unlucky.

Sadly yes. But the point stands: 4 games against HTFC and BHA and no goals equals a problem

As always, both arguments are hyperbolic either way and the truth lies in the middle.

Agree with you Jinky. There are some on here who seem to think the team should be immune from criticism, and that if you dare to criticise a poor performance you somehow are an inferior supporter. It's utter shite.

+1

We had loads of possession today and didn't do enough with it. Think maybe Vinagre should have started. Neves played fairly well but at times it just feels ineffective. He drops into the back 3 and at times it's a back 6 with Moutinho dropping in. Wingbacks get pushed wide, it becomes a circle formation.

I think the forum has become a bit meme-y. It's OK to criticise. It's OK to say we've had a great season on the whole and we don't have a god given right to win games. There is an inbetween...

The Brighton games are complete outliers IMO. They had one shot in 180 minutes. Just a combination of good goalkeeping, bad luck and it being bloody hard to break down a team playing 4-6-0.

We have seen plenty of this now and it still hasn't been addressed. Otto is fabulous defensively but isn't going to run a full back ragged and we knew Brighton would be defensive so Vinny not starting is baffling to say the least.

I can understand the inclusion of MGW but it didn't work and for me I still don't think we know what his best position is.

Hopefully these problems will be ironed out over the summer.

Spot on Lycan. There's some absolute shite being spouted in this thread.

Not for me, today was an opportunity to show progress against a side that did precisely what we expected and were hopefully prepping for. I think for many of us that is where the disappointment comes from. Had we been reigning chances and shots down on them I would be inclined to agree we were unlucky.

On the Jonny/Vinagre debate, I thought Jonny was one of the main reasons why we dominated the game so completely. The way he consistently won the ball back retained possession and kept the pressure on was superb.

The only sub I'd have made differently to Nuno was I'd have put Cav/FFS Costa on for MGW instead of Leander and made it a 3-4-3.

So many people saying the same thing to you every week. But yeah, we're the ones who are wrong, you're 100% right to be sat there in your armchair slating Wolves.

:icon_lol:

All hail, the superior one. No one dare disagree with this mans opinion or you’re in for it...

why is the debate more about the fans who are giving their opinions and less about the opinions that are being given by the fans?

I noticed today when Doherty had the ball out wide in the first half, there was only Jota in the box. I thought Raul was very poor today, he just didn't seem "on it" today.

This is just absolutely incredible.

We hit the post 3 times, Ryan made a few quality saves, had a shot flashed past the post and numerous other threatening periods of play that just didn't quite drop for us but we've got no ideas?

We weren't slow today, we were sharp and totally dominating but just unlucky.

sorry but must disagree. we were pedantically slow, we weren't sharp as final ball miscontrolled or badly passed, but we did dominate.

We WERE slow until Vinagre came on.
Don't know how many times we won possession In the middle and then fannied around with it (across the pitch and back again) which allowed Brighton to get back into their 1-5-5 formation.

Now let's talk about these fucking short corners!

agreed, Raul seemed to spend too much time away from the goal scoring area.

Because it's fairly obvious the divide is between fans who were at the game and those who weren't.

I almost never swear on here but this is a shit house comment and you can piss off with it. Everything I put on here is reasoned and thought out. Dismissing my opinion because I am a non attender or lumping everyones opinion as valid or unvalid based on if they were at today's game is bang out of order.
