What are you currently listening to....

:D

I love it as an album. Think it is really strong. Took me a few listens, but when I got into it loved it.
A kind sole got me a ticket for their december gig at the civic, and I hear they're working on album number 15, so hopefully a few unknown bits will be played.

Fave tracks, the title track & catapult imo.
Yeah it's a great listen. Didn't take me long to get into it at all.

I like Surfer's Song and Nothing But Love.

Not a fan of Nickelback at all but I must admit that drop d riff is pretty tasty.

The tone on their guitars has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Sounds like the horn on an 18 wheeler.

Production on their albums is usually immaculate, too.

Drop d. You de tune the bass e string two steps to d. Makes it heavier.

Just heard another new Metallica track - moth into flame. Some nice riffs but a bit meh in a Death Magnetic sort of way. It's okay but it ay exactly Puppets.

Just had a listen. Pretty much agree with you, alright but doesn't get my balls bouncing. 6 mins is too long too.

Though I do like the solo. Kirk still loves his wah doesn't he?

I really wish someone would steal all of Kirk's Wah pedals.

Decent solo though, and there is a belting riff just before the solo. Some promising stuff there but I worry about the guitar production being far too Death Magnetic. Getting involved with Rubin for that album I hoped to hear Hetfield manipulating a beautifully produced Reign in Blood sort of sound (although not as extreme). This is too fucking dry in the guitars. Too dry by half. You can have great production that is dry (Among The Living is a great example) but this is like Gandhi's sandals. Get that eighties guitar tone back Metallica. Not the awash with reverb of Ride, but just listen to Puppets again ffs. Fleming Rasmussen nailed the Hetfield-God sound on there, and nothing has come close since.

An evening with Rush. Currently listening to the brilliant 2112. An epic album.

' The Very Best Of Bread '

Blimey, this takes me back a bit!

The new Opeth album Sorceress is very good indeed, it feels a bit more structured than Heritage or Pale Communion but also has some deliciously heavy/groovy elements to their latter-day prog leanings: listen to the riff a little way in to the title track:
