West Ham (A) Build Up and Matchday Thread

You're assuming Liverpool will carry on where they left off, they could, but equally could not, myself I'd love them to collapse and throw it away

They don't need that many points & however much they fuck up they will get those.

Suspect that we will make the Europa's, but not have enough to get into the CL (even if Man City are banned).

I don't think we will get Champions League or be particularly close to it. I am hoping we do enough to get Europa again and would be happy with that, love having the mid week games to look forward to.

Doing this on the assumption Leicester have enough of a lead to stay in 3rd. I'll chuck in home and away even though evidently it's nowhere near as important without the fans.

Chelsea, Man Utd and Sheff Utd all have cup games to fit in as well.

Looking at that, I can't see Spurs winning all their remaining games, so I think they're safely out of top 4 talk. They can maybe press for Europe but they have a lot of ground to make up, too much I think.

Sheff Utd have a very tough run-in. Given what they've already done I'm refusing to write them off, but I can't see them winning a bunch of those. Draws maybe, which might be helpful for us if they take points off the others around us...but obviously we'd still need to take advantage.

Hard to know what will happen with Chelsea, they've shown the ability to be great or awful. I do think they'll drop some points, but equally they have a head start.

Man Utd I think will probably finish above us, their schedule's a little easier than ours overall. But we'll run them close.

For 4th/5th I think we probably need at least 6 wins. It's doable but we absolutely can't keep conceding first and relying on comebacks. And really you would think we need to win the first 3 at a minimum - I'm not huge on momentum in sport in general but it would surely give the players a big confidence boost for the run-in.

I think we'll be 6th at the end of it. Depending on what happens with City that might be enough for the top Europa spot - it probably will be worth a Europa spot regardless depending on who wins the FA Cup.

I agree that Spurs won't win all their games, but they have certainly benefited from the break now that they have actual strikers fit and ready.

Agreed, but they were looking a bit of a shambles defensively, which is odd for a Jose team. I think he has a problem with midfield in that he hasn't got sufficient defensive cover for how he wants to play.

Got me top on, going to be a long day waiting for 5.30.

Got a problem with Kane as well, who looked bloody hopeless last night - and a long way off fit

I've got that opening day of the season buzz/butterflies feeling all over again. It's bloody great. I am nervous about how things will pan out, we haven't been particularly fast starters either in games or at the beginning of a season so I'd be happy to get a point today.

A point wouldn't be the end of the world but the other results have fallen nicely and we really need to be looking at 3 points here. Were 9 places and 16 points ahead of them, we've played them 3 times during this season and last and beat them all 3 times, scored 6 conceded 0. We are a better team than them with better players, as long as we are fully prepared we should get 3 points today.

It will be good enough for a Europa League spot no matter what. Man City aren't going to take up their League Cup winner's place whatever happens (as they'll either qualify for the Champions League or be banned), so at minimum that will be into the qualifying rounds.

So nice football is back, maybe we can snatch all 3 points here..who knows..important game if we wanna fight for a CL spot..

I have this feeling that we'll either totally play them off the pitch or it will be dreadful from both sides.

Guess I'll say 4-0 to be optimistic.

Guessing 1-2 win :)

We'll win 3-1, we won't be great but they'll be shit :)
