Welcome to Wolves Rafa Mir

I think there are limits to how much you can increase your wage budget by per season, maybe a way around that

I think there are. I wonder if we can do something funky with image rights from club med or something

He's 20. Not a kid. If he gets into good positions he will get the ball from players who have the ability to play him in. If he's any good he'll score goals. No problem.

So same age as Ruben Neves...

Assuming fitness and us not signing another forward then Mir will make the matchday 18 for every game between now and the end of the season.

I don't think the club would have revealed him in the way they did if he wasn't expected to immediately go into the first team.

I'm cautious about him but Nuno clearly thought he was near Valencia's first team so there's absolutely nothing that will make me believe Nuno doesn't think he's ready for ours.

Anyone know why Mir hasn't made any appearances for Spain's youth teams? Usually with a good young player like this there's at least some U17s or U21s on his record.

I'm sure I read somewhere that he didn't have the usual run through football academies but came through FootSal, playing for 4 time champions in Spain and through this was snapped up to a professional team

Not up on chants but I think a bit of Human League aimed towards Real should be a thing :D

From Sky:

Wolves striker Rafa Mir says his former club Valencia refused to sell him to Real Madrid.

The European champions were in pursuit of the forward before Wolves surprisingly secured his signature earlier this month.

Mir, who signed a four-and-a-half year deal at Molineux, told Radio Valencia Cadena SER: “They (Valencia) rejected three or four offers from Real Madrid for me. However, they agreed to Wolverhampton’s first [offer] in December. Valencia didn’t want me to go to Real Madrid and they succeeded.”

Hmmm. Does he sound bitter, or perhaps not really want to be here?

Just sounds like he’s telling it like it is. Probably a bit annoyed if he was expecting to be at Real and now he’s here tbh!

Valencia might not have wanted to sell to real, but real thought we're the biggest and just bully them into selling to us,Valencia then let him come to us as a fuck you to real, and perhaps he likes nuno and would like to repay him for giving him his debut at Valencia, and wanted to see if he could do it in England,on a cold wet Tuesday in Barnsley,or something

You can't judge by the written word whether he's just stating facts or is pissed off.

I'm sure he will cheer up when he plays with the boys :)

He could always have turned us down anyway.

Aye. And from what I've read, they were offering <£500k, we offered £2m

Real or wolves, Madrid or Wolverhampton... let's face it, that's a very easy choice for any player, let alone a Spanish one. He must have seen something he likes here to sign though, knowing he'd probably have no shortage of suitors

Well he surely can't be an Ola John as we've given him #9. Rafa Mir, here I go again, my my, how can I resist you

Im reckoning he saw the sunset over the mander centre, and thought classy place, yea I'll sign

He also said “I wanted to join an ambitious project and a club which placed trust in me as I did not see that at Valencia.”

Well he gets that here, would Real Madrid place trust in him in the next few years?? He will get a chance to play at Wolves starting with Swansea next week, if he does well he will get a chance in the first team. I very much doubt that would be the case for Valencia or Real Madrid.

I got a snippet of information elsewhere, which seems quite trustworthy that Boly won't be staying even if we go up. Its for personal reasons, doesn't look like the kind of problem that will go away.

How much say does a player get in where he goes these days, especially a young one?
