Welcome to Wolves André Trindade

Jeff behind the camera with a gun!

Okay, I've done my homework. I've watched some highlight reels and listened to what the experts have to say...

I'm disappointed not to have signed a senior CB this window and am coming round to the idea of a back four and not a three, despite not signing a CB to better suit that formation...

So André is gonna sit deep in front of the CB's, dropping in between them to help retrieve the ball.

It's his job to start attacks with searching balls forward or runs in to midfield. I'm guessing the plan is for him to play the Beckenbauer role...

He comes with a huge reputation and a proven track record of having played the Beckenbauer position at the highest level of South American club football.

Colour me excited. Fingers crossed it works.

Helpfully, fbref has available his percentiles against CBs...

Gonna drag this back to the front page. Andre has quietly become Wolves best player IMO. His recent performances have been nothing short of brilliant, and current form has him every bit as good as Neves or Moutinho IMHO. His tenacity, his ball retention, his passing, his workrate, his composure: there isn't anything he doesn't do at a high level (except heading maybe 😉). I think he has become the player most valuable to our survival and (hopefully) future improvement.

What a player.

Think that's fair although to rank with Neves and Moutinho he needs to do it over a sustained period, hopefully we get see him do that for us.

He has been very good in the last month, but still a fair way off those two at the moment for me. At their best they could dictate play and run the game, he's not at that level yet, although to be fair they both mainly played in better sides.

To rank with Moutinho he needs to have a 20 year career towards the top end of European football, so good luck with that.

He’s my favourite player in our squad right now. As good as Neves/Moutinho in his own way and wouldn’t be surprised if he can’t do it over a longer period and be looked at in a similar way to them because the best clubs in the world want him.

Some slightly OTT takes on him today imo.

Cunha is our best player comfortably and can change games on his own, as could Neves and Moutinho in their own way. Andre not there yet for me, although a very good player who will undoubtedly grow in influence

Cunha is our best individual player but for me Andre is much more of a team player and his individual strengths bring more out of the rest of the team. Obviously on a highlights reel Cunha wins hands down.

Dire Wolf said Andre was our best player, he's not, it's Cunha. My two year old knows that

His long range passing might not be quite at Neves’ level but he’s much more mobile and a far better disrupter than Neves. If he continues his recent form he’ll be in great demand, something Neves never was, much to our gain. With Andre in the team no opposition midfield will get an easy ride and whilst I think he won’t go this summer I’ll be amazed if he’s still here in August 2026.

Andre is class - I'd have loved to have seen him in Nuno's team. But he's still got a long way to go to be in the very top bracket of players I've seen at Wolves.

Undoubtedly one of the very best players in our squad at the moment and definitely one player I'd be gutted to lose.

Playing for a club that rarely dominates possession suits Cunha perfectly. I do wonder if like Neto he won’t look so impressive in a team that faces a low block more often than not. Andre will look great in any formation.
