v Southampton (A). League Cup 2nd Round 23/08 - Match Thread

Nouha misses three sitters. Thanks for your efforts, but goodbye.

1 sitter I would say. Other 2 were plain old normal chances...3rd should have been put away though

Austin nails Norris and gets booked

Charlie Austin should have had a red card there. Norris had the ball, cleared it and that dirty, slow fuck came in late with his studs up and caught him. He's still down getting treatment.
Ref gave him a yellow.
Should have had a yellow for his challenge, another yellow for being late, a red for studs up. So he shouldn't be available till January.
Dirty fuck. Norris is up and limping now.

Vinagre doing well. Jordan Graham, less so. Seems to be struggling with the defensive side of the position he's being asked to play. Edwards/Price hardly being mentioned at all. Great to have Marshall back. Dicko wasteful.

Edwards with a 20 yarder.....goes 40 yards wide.

Vinagre is sounding decent again

Norris with a wordily save. Southampton all over us.

Norris with a top drawer save and then Soton miss a great chance after a mistake from Batth

Playing his way into contention?

Nah, Ruddy is clearly our No.1 keeper. Brilliant having a back up who is more than capable of stepping in, though.

Sounds like Graham is the weak link tonight, so far.

Spiers is giving our set piece defending a right slating.

We are poor at them right now though. Biggest weak spot in our team

A Pulis team would love playing us

I think he's saying it were so many infringements that multiple cards were warranted

Correct! Come on Frank!

2 Fantastic saves there by Will Norris. Absolutely stunning! 1st one kept us in the game high and wide up to his left and then a terrific piece of goalkeeping to rescue our defence from a corner.
A series of misses by S'ton's forwards. 0-0.
We're shite at set pieces and Jordan Graham is getting ruined down this side. All Southampton's freedom and danger is coming past Graham. Probably in the wrong position. Ball watching out of position, slow to turn... Nuno needs to fix this.

Agreed, it's a good position to be in!

Where's Marshall playing? I'd be tempted to swap them around
