Trump

It hasn't just been Germany - walls have been going up all over Europe and, in my opinion, the symbolism of this development is terrifying while at the same time is now normal.

We are watching our humanity eroded

Absolutely. I've been in Poland, Greece and the UK in the last few months and it's clearly visible that peoples attitudes and beliefs are shifting back to the right. The age of 'ME' is well and truly here. The thing that most concerns me is how far right will things go?

For example, I saw with my own eyes, swastika's spray painted on walls in Krakow, which is ironic considering Auschwitz was located there. I've seen skinhead marches in Lancashire recently and I spoke to a Greek hotel owner about the refugee crisis and he didn't want to know. This is all stuff I have personally experienced.

Add to that the stuff on tv, from Hungary to the UK. Immigrants being turned away, sheltered houses for Romanians being burned down, migrant camps being torched by the Police, a general feeling of 'Fuck'em, let them go back where they came from'

God help any of you if you ever lose your job/house/family and have to depend on your respective Governments.... it's quite clear if you are disabled/infirm/mentally ill, the message is that you must fend for yourself, as our World leaders don't give a fuck about you.
Look at the Tories in the UK, cutting benefits and services and almost revelling in it. And people over there seem surprised! You reap what you sow.

As I alluded to earlier, this period of relatively peacefully liberal democracy that we've been enjoying (well, most of us have!) has been really quite short in historical terms. The consensus that it's much better for nations to trade rather than fight, and individuals should be nice to one another regardless of differences, is a fairly modern idea and I don't think it's a stretch to say that it's unlikely to remain that way forever. The liberal idea that things will keep getting better and humanity is improvable isn't necessarily proven.

Turns out we might all be a bunch of cunts.

Oh, and just a shout out to the environment. It was nice while it lasted. The world's biggest per capita polluter has just elected someone who believes that global warming is a fiction, a conspiracy perpetrated by the Chinese. Well, he says that. I don't think he actually believes in anything other than his own advancement.

And there's a good chance the National Front will win the election in France next year. The National Front, a once openly Nazi party.

I fell asleep during the polling last night. You can imagine my surprise this morning.

In complete shock.

He's said numerous times that one of his first objectives in office is to remove all climate change related funding. Ugh.

One percent of the population of the world controls 50% of the wealth. Its those people who back big players like Trump. Its unrealistic to think other wise. Money makes money Always has and always will. A true social consciousness struggles to exist if those in a philanthropic position feel less and less empowered. Charity begins at home has never rung more true

Couldn't disagree more.

Really? A referendum that centered on looking after yourself first and others later followed by a presidential election where states who had seen their industry disappear abroad voted with what they saw was someone to make them USA home focussed ? I must be missing something. The vote was one of looking after yourself first. I.e charity begins at home

I can't help but think the events of this year are lurching us towards something awful. Almost like a future exam question "Explain why the events that occurred during 2016 contributed towards yada yada yada"

Sorry I misunderstood. I thought you were advocating this.

Without a doubt (I would add the Tories' inexplicable renewed mandate in 2015 to this, as I mentioned earlier in my blog).

There are too many horrific direct parallels going on for the world to escape unscathed from this mess.

Do you think that in a few generations time, our grandkids/great grandkids are going to look back at our generation and think 'you complete and utter cunts'?

Not if they examine who it is that's actually voted for all this.

No sir. The unwanted bi product of these results will undoubtably a widening in the gap between the haves and have nots and those in the middle less empowered or with less desire to show charity or offer help. The world has become more selfish. Clever politicians should be asking why and addressing the issues very quickly

Finding a conventional means of arguing down the likes of May, Farage and Trump in itself isn't that difficult. I've seen lorries that are more articulate than that trio. But all bets are off, I repeat, it doesn't seem to matter what the victors do or say.

I'm genuinely fearful for the future. Like brexit I don't think trump has anything other than blaming immigration - fair play though, blaming immigrants is a tried and tested tactic used throughout history
