Traore the enigma

He looks like he's wearing a fanny pack under his shirt.

Dendoncker did ok. I thought he looked a little safe in possession. By that I mean he wasn’t willing to hit and slightly risky passes. There was a few times where either the WB or forwards made a decent run and a relatively high percentage ball would have seen in behind on the front foot but you saw him look up to see the run but then decide not to play it and play the simple ball backwards/sideways. Maybe just a one off, or lack of confidence having not really played. He’s certainly better defensively than Saiss (bigger, quicker, stronger, less of a walking yellow card), but you’d expect that given his fee and pedigree to date.

When united played anderlecht in the Europe league he was very good and touted with big things. So when we signed him I thought it was a big statement, but that man united game was nearly 2 years ago and I haven’t heard much from him since given he is now nearly 24.

I’d play him against City

Yeah, I think he needs a run of games

He was a big part of the second half against Liverpool, I'd like to see him retain his place, we have a lot of big game players, and with his experience , he should be one of them.

I agree. I thought Dendoncker played very well. Moreover, I hope he continues in the team because he makes the CM pairing of Neves and Moutinho (with the latter playing much higher) so much more secure. Without him in the lineup, I fear we can lose the midfield battles.

Better than Saiss my arse based on a FA Cup match against a shit performing Liverpool reserves. Saiss played a lot of games I think Donk has a lot to prove before you can say that and as for Jack Price (average league one shit at best) IMO

He's the massive outlier - played many many less games than the others, but with comparable numbers. If only we could improve his end product.

It's not his end product that's the problem, he digs out some pretty decent crosses from tight areas and even if he's not the most accurate he's got a very powerful shot. It's his starting position, limited movement off the ball, shoddy first touch and inability to play as part of a team that makes him such a frustrating player.

I'm sorry. Does a player have to be playing in the Premier League for him to be any good? Jack Price did a perfectly good job for us at the level he played and I liked his style of play. We moved away from the "gerrit forward" hoofs and played football

I'd add decision making too.

Agreed. It is why his Spurs performance was encouraging and frustrating in equal measure. He genuinely looked like a member of the team, broke forward pretty well and was receiving it in slightly better positions. It shouldn't take this long and we don't know if it was a one-off either. And he got injured!

Would persevere for a bit yet, but not sure that he can ever get the right pass when he gets to where he is going (which he is quite good at) - can he be coached to improve that enough?

Really not sure - he isn't an 18 yr old now.
Not entirely sure on the article's accuracy actually, i definitely remember more than one completed pass in to the box if you include crosses (which I think you would).

Still the same for me - a great Plan B to have, but unless we can encourage a better team ethic only that.

However, and it’s a big one, Traoré has only followed one of his successful take-ons with a completed pass into the box, and only three further times has he followed one up with any other kind of successful pass.

For a player so adept at carrying the ball up-field, this must be incredibly frustrating to his manager and to Wolves fans.

I mean yeah. Exactly.

beyond that, kind of tired of the Traore argument at this point. whatever happens happens.
