Transfer Speculation Thread 2014/15

He is also suffered when the crowd turned against him. He became afraid to even try anything resembling a difficult pass because if it went wrong he got slaughtered.

If he can't cope with the expectations of the crowd he has no business being at Wolves.

It's not so much expectations, it was the kind of disgraceful scapegoating that the likes of Naylor/Kennedy/Keogh have suffered from in the past.

Nothing to do with expectations is it. You make a mistake and the perfect fuckers in the crowd get on your back, it then turns into one of those "he can 1000 things right but 1 mistake and you are being nailed"

For me Davis is rightly down the pecking order and needs to be moved on. If he couldn't make an impact at League One level for Wolves I don't see how he could possibly make an impact at Championship level, especially considering that our stated goal is promotion.

The crowd expects success at Championship level and anyone who is not delivering will be singled out by the fans for criticism. I liked Naylor/Kennedy/Keogh and I agree that they were picked on unfairly at times but Davis failed to adapt to being criticised. Edwards has said himself that he's not always been a fan favourite but he's taken the criticism he's received over the years onboard and got on with his work; Davis on the other hand spent his time moaning about it on Twitter.

Don't disagree he is rightly down the pecking order but its not about adapting is it when regardless of what you do you get hammered. Davis doesn't have the game to mask over things such as scoring goals (which is why Keogh suffered as well....boom tish etc)

Davis' biggest problem for me seems to be motivation, he'll have a decent spell then he seems to have a spell where he just look completely half arsed, like he rests on his laurels after a decent showing, it could just be that he's massively inconsistent but he always seems to have spells where he just doesn't look like he's at all focussed on the task at hand.

He's inconsistent inside a game itself, let alone over a run of games. He'll be fine for an hour or so then have 10-15 minutes of incredibly loose stuff and bad decisions. But he's still only 23 and before last season had only ever played in awful Wolves teams.

I think he needs a move, as Lycan says, now we have moved to a more possession based style then we can't carry him until he significantly improves that side of his game. Also we're only ever going to be buying better players now, not worse, so that doesn't bode well for him. Wolves fans do scapegoat though and do treat their own players badly at times and it's definitely contributed to quite a few - chuck in Keith Andrews too - not fulfilling their potential here.

Alleged Wolves target Callum Wilson - Coventry agree fee with Norwich and Bournemouth (around £3m).

Norwich are going to have to have a fire sale at some point as that'll be their 5th striker.

I'd imagine that somebody will be willing to take a chance on Hooper and Van Wolfswinkel will be off surely?

With Ipswich selling Cresswell to WHU for a big whack of money does anybody else think that Mick will come back in for Stephen Ward? I'd have expected Brighton to have done a deal already but nothing's happened yet.

I think it's possible. Wages again might be a stumbling block?

Why did I read the comments at the bottom of the article?

"So we watched Gauld but didn,t recognise the potential, we signed Vokes and didn't recognise the potential and now we are extending Cassidy,s contract because we don,t want to make another mistake like we did with Vokes. Or in other words we are unable to decide if he has potential or not,

We signed Clark instead of Wilson, we have let numerous academy players leave for little or nothing many are now playing at the same or a higher level than us.

Me thinks our much heralded scouting might not be all it's cracked up to be.

Whole club seems to be clueless, without significant signings mid table is best we can hope for but I can't help but wonder if the club are happy that the ticket sales are satisfactory and they don't need to spend any money for a while."

So we didn't spot the potential in Jacobs, Henry, Goldbourne or the possible future potential of Torres or Eusebio.....
