Ticket Prices 2021-22

Which parameters are we allowed to compare on then?
If you're talking about London clubs you expect them to be higher as the cost of living in general is higher there as are wages comparing those clubs prices like for like with Wolves is never going to give a fair reflection

So how do we work out how to compare clubs in a fair way?

We shouldn't be comparing clubs at all.

If we are, then how come Leicester fans are paying less than us, despite finishing significantly above us for two seasons in a row and having won the FA Cup?

If you are going down that route.
Villa, Leicester, Norwich, Burnley, Everton, Newcastle, Leeds. Removes London and Sky 6. I looked at Villa, they have a lot of different categories. The Holte End alone has 3 excluding concessions. 2 are more than the South Bank, 1 less

And again the factors there are ridiculous.

They lied about Leicester's prices and then brought up Newcastle. Who on earth thinks "yes, we should run the club like Mike Ashley does up there"? And his strategy was so successful that he literally had to give away season tickets in the end.

Must admit its not summat I'm gunna get my knickers in a twist about, personally, if I think its reasonable value and I can afford it, I'll pay it, don't really pay that much attention to other clubs

That's the line that our club are pushing though to justify it. If they want to go down that road then they can get called for it. I'd never bring it up personally because it's not even apples and oranges, it's apples and lawnmowers.

There isn't any justification for increasing prices given how we performed last season, where our prices were pitched in the first place (we certainly were not cheap as it was) and how the last 16 months has impacted on the region as a whole financially.

I don't know who needs to hear it but the club is a commercial entity run by an investment company.

They're going to charge as much as they realistically can get away with without pissing off the fans too much. They're also going to employ people to help them do this.

Not all clubs are run in this way of course, but most probably are.

If every season ticket holder was paying £641 it would work out to be about £950k based on 21500 STH's.

As there will be many concessions and children then the total will be far less. I'd say you are looking at the wages for one season for a top end Championship player. One or two places higher in the league table last season would have been an easier way to make money.

Thanks both, I think we could list plenty of better ways. It's a pittance in context. It is unhealthy to have a very high waiting list and I guess that was a contributing factor, but pricing out your most loyal fans isn't the way to do it.

It makes it all the more baffling that the Steve Bull stand didn't get rebuilt during the pandemic, I'm not buying the line that Fosun aren't willing to invest in the club. The signs still point to wanting to push on.

I look forward to "Where's the season ticket extra money gone Jeff" when we won't pay 77 million for someone.

Was £514 last time.
I know it was £350 promotion season and they put it up c. £100 for first PL to £450. So they then put it up another £65 for the second season, and now up to £550. Ignoring the season we couldn’t go that’s an almost 60% increase in 3 seasons…

Not a big deal if the prices now stay at this level, but will they…

Why would you when public opinion is bizarrely on your side when you increase prices with zero justification whatsoever?

Of course they'll go up again, unless we get relegated.

What justification do they need other than, because we want to? It's a business and they will have targets to increase revenue and this is an easy win for them.

Seems to me they've played the classic "scare everyone into thinking a big increase is coming so that they will wilfully except the smaller increase"

I don't think there has been a big change in position because of the backlash from the interview, it's just basic marketing.

It's shite 90s marketing.

Good to see Nathan Rioja saying "you have to give Vinny Clark credit", and not in the "he's shammed his way into a role he has no business having, ripped everyone and is getting a pat on the back" way that I'd put it. Great reporting Nath.

So an MLS season ticket is more expensive than one for a Prem side...

Feel free to make whatever jokes come to mind, as even I know that's fucking ridiculous. Although I suppose MLS sides can't count on away fans in the same way, but still. Yikes.

Are Charlotte expecting big attendances?
