The Wolves 4 Besiktas 0 (bah Braga won) verdict thread.

Naff first half. Great substitution. Great win. Job done.

Raul Jiminez currently on 21% on the Wolves app MOTM vote?!?

Buur was excellent, solid performance and did nothing wrong, I certainly wasn't expecting that. Vinagre had a great game as well, the move that put Cutrone through offside in the first half was mesmerising, that defender will have nightmares about that for a while. Cutrone had a good game and Neto just scrapes MotM for me over Diogo as he was another who had an excellent game. Donck was awful in the first half but on fire in the second, not to take away from Diogo's hat trick but I really wish that shot had hit the top corner and not the bar, still at least he got his goal. Another solid game for Kilman as well, he'll be some player I reckon.

Unbelievable that we ended up with a near U23 side beating Besiktas in the Europa League, what a time to be a Wolves fan.

youngsters all did well for themselves, no one had a bad game. having said that neto and vinagre need to cut out the cute shit and worry about getting the basics right first. Buur tidy and a few nice crosses.

intrigued by Otasowie, who I hadn't seen prior... really nice on the ball, bossed in the air, had a few very close attempts on goal, all in a pretty limited span at the end of the game.

cutrone so close all game, two excellent chances right at the start but offside for both, never quite came off.

donk had several close shots through the game as well, finally bagged one, also excellent shot for a rebound on the 3rd jota goal.

formation change and jota hat trick in 9 minutes. unbelievable. I hope the last 2 games helps him click back into form, it's been a long time coming and hopefully he'll be a bit more settled with raul.

ruddy made a few (2?) good saves, wasn't particularly busy. mou and neves were mou and neves. boring but comfortable first half, fantastic interplay and goals in the 2nd.

Another enjoyable Euro night, first half we didn't play badly but struggled to create very much apart from the off side goal and one other.
Thought Burr looked very lacking in self confidence but second half really stepped it up. Neto looked full of running but a bit guilty of trying a bit too hard but again in the second half stepped up to the plate. Cutrone as ever works his bollocks off and I'm sure he'll start converting more chances soon. Everybody else solid performances.
Really don't understand the criticism of Neto and Cutrone, they seem like excellent players to me, they've hardly had any starts and most of their performances have been bit parts off the bench, they really need more starts but thats going to difficult given how good our strikers are.

Dendoncker's shot was saved rather than just hitting the bar - brilliant save as well.

Controlled the first half without any real threat. Needed a spark which it got with Jota though many others were instrumental in his hattrick.

No one disgraced themselves though, not surprisingly given the group situation, little competition.

Felt a bit sorry for their goalkeeper on the 2nd goal as he made a save as good as any save you'll ever see and still conceded!

Jota was magnificent, Cutrone played well too, deserved a goal. Buur looked decent and Kilman is not a bad player to have as back up. Good result, superb 2nd half performance.

Really impressed with some of the players on the fringes of the first team. Neto, Kilman, Vinagre and Cutrone were all excellent.

Lots of positives (pre 10pm!) last night.

First half saw quite a few of our players playing within themselves I thought. It was like they were on trial, but didn't want to make mistakes. 2nd half was like Nuno had taken the shackles off them, told them to relax, given them permission to have more of a go at Besiktas. Players seemed more willing to take their man on, or press, and it was effective.

Buur was very good I thought. He did ok in the first half, but his pressing and especially his tackling in the 2nd half was top notch. Got better with every minute, and received the acknowledgement from his team mates for the goal that he created.

Bennett got a good 90 minutes in. Coadys passing was very good last night. Kilman had a good game, bar 1 error in the first half. Vinagre did really well too - had the beating of more than 1 player repeatedly.

Disagree with Booz, as I thought Donck was exceptional all game, not just 2nd half. Moutinho was his usuial phenomenal self. Neves will have now had a rest.

Cutrone was inches away from scoring all evening. He's very different to Raul, and in the 2nd half some of his touches, lay offs, passes/through balls were sublime. In 2 years he could be a phenomenal player, and also give us something very different. For me, he became a different player with the formation change. Although he didn't score, he was critical in doing a lot of good stuff.

We've got our Jota back, nice! Perry did well for his 20 mins, his corners were very good. Otasawie showed he has a lot of potential with his all round game too.

A lot of players probably have given themselves a good chance of being the FA cup team based on that showing.

I thought Moutinho and Donk were pretty poor in the first half, one pass from Joao and the subsequent pass from Coady were pure comedy, gifting Besiktas pedestrian striker a go at goal. Hopefully that is the end of the 3-5-2 as it's pretty clear it isn't working with the players we have now. Neves and Moutinho in particular were ineffective in the first half and poor Donk couldn't trap a wet bag of cement for 20 minutes and then gave the ball away consistently for the next 25.

The change to 3-4-3 was the catalyst for everybody, Donk looked a different player in a 2 and deserved his goal and both Neto and Cutrone looked far better with another forward in there. Buur was impressive, looked a bit lost in the first half and grew in to the second half with some great runs and I was very impressed with his passing, some of it Neves like. He's got some wheels on him too.

Excellent 90s Lee Naylor-esque hair too.

Otasowie is going to be some player.

I think that Otasowie's contract may be up soon and there are plenty of other clubs looking at him. Watched him in an U23 game - albeit only online - and thought he was a tremendous prospect

I am sure we will have a nice fat contract extension waving in front of his face PDQ.

He looked imperious last night. A truly outstanding prospect.

Donk got into some good position 1st half but was poor on the ball. Same with Vinagre. He could have played in Cutrone at the end of that run but decided another pointless step over was needed and it was too late then.

The sub of Jota was correct but we instantly played better because we switched to 3-4-3 and moved Neto over to the other side.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. In a 3-5-2 we are asking Donk to play a position he simply cannot play. Unsurprisingly we are poor on the all and unable to create anything.

Add to the fact that Vinagre and Neto thought they were playing FIFA street, (Vinagre went on that good run and then rather than playing a very simple through ball to Cutrone, decided to do a pointless stepover and Cutrone couldn’t hold the run any longer. And Neto seemed to refuse to pass to Burr despite good runs and just ran into trouble).

The change in formation made an instant difference, not only due to increased quality, but having 3 attackers gave each one of them more room and also gave Vinagre and Burr more space too create plus allowing the midfield two to dictate easier. This saw better performances from Everyone and we blew them away.

Players got a rest, we won the game comfortably and was some younger players got some game time. A good evening for all.
