The Wolves 3 Arsenal 1 verdict thread.

Wolverhampton 9 North London 6

7 points from Arsenal and Tottenham.

Incredible

a season that keeps on giving
diogo is 22. I mean, if he gets any better....

So we have scored aggregate victories over two of the four Europa League semi-finalists and one of the Champions League semi-finalists. And beaten a CL quarter finalist twice, plus Liverpool in the Cup.

Absolutely brilliant performance.

Heroes, every one of them.

Was busy so didn't see it but still... we are fucking awesome. Love this team.
I really couldn't give a monkey's if we struggle to beat bus-parking teams. I'll take beating Arsenal and the other big teams over beating Huddersfield 100 times out of 100.

I had no idea it had been 40 years since we'd beaten Arsenal. Granted, we won't have played them for many of those, but still.

Well done Wolves, and especially Neves for making me eat a little bit of crow tonight.

20 games since then with 4 draws - 3 FA cup defeats and a glorious league cup 1-5 vs their kids
the season we last beat them we lost the home game in 1980. i think we'd have finished 5th had we won
so this will be our best league finish since then, though today it's ridiculously harder to compete with the bigger clubs

We needed that as the last few weeks have been tough after such a good season.

Fully deserved and every outfield player put in a shift. A lot of players who had nothing left at the end, especially Jonny and Donck. They couldn't live with Jota and had no clue what to do when he ran at them.

Their right side was a disaster. Maitland-Niles looked like a boy playing mens football and Sokratis was a mess. Jonny & Jota ran them ragged.

4 points chelsea
4 points off Arsenal
4 points of Man utd
Away win at Spurs
Beat Liverpool and Man utd in the cup. Thats a magnificent effort. So, it means we relish the teams who dont park the bus. I am not going to post anything other than praise after that last night. Heres my ratings
Patricio 7 Had nothing to do. May have come for the corner? Kicking was fine
Doherty 7 Good link up
Bennett 8 Really solid and read the game well
Boly 7 Beaten a couple of times but recovered well too
Coady 8 Great Leadership of the back line
Jonny 10- Best game in a wolves shirt absolute stonker.
Neves-9- Great free kick and ran the midfield
Moutinho 9- Hot knife through butter- Arseenal could not cope until they made their substitutions.
Dendonker- 7. Nearly gave a goal away, and from that corner they scored. Otherwise did fine.
Jimenez 7- wasteful for him with his best chances being off target but work rate outstanding
Jota-10- Waspish, pacy pain in the arse. What a performance.

Nope.

Too many players between him and the ball, he comes for it and he looks like Leno on Doc's goal. He didn't have a great amount to do but again how quick he moves off his line stops him having saves to make. One example was in the 2nd half and Boly was under pressure and had to head back towards Rui but couldn't get a great deal of power behind it but Rui was alert and off his line to take the ball on the slide. Also solid handling on their free kick right at the end. Looks simple but you hold that properly and 3 or 4 players are ready to pounce.

I thought Rui's kicking and around confidence with the ball at his feet looked really good yesterday. Even passed with his wrong foot at times too.

It certainly is an area he has improved on this season. Compare his kicking now to the start of the season. Donck being in the team has helped him no end as well as he was an option ion the centre of the pitch to aim for rather than always having to look for Doc out wide

Again, possibly a good example of what you may see in the ground that we dont get on TV?

"Give 4th place to Wolves" is kind of a thing on Reddit now. Loads of praise for us, overall, not just for last night.

Im sat right behind it. He thinks about it but he has the players plus the pace of the ball makes it impossible to come for. He does come for it and we are ripping him to bits for doing so as he will be stranded or on his arse

What really delighted me was after a relatively slow start how quickly our belief returned as soon as we scored, and how impressively we turned on the style and ran them ragged. Like so many supposed top sides, they were petrified of Jota who was outstanding throughout.

And also a word about the ridiculous pass under pressure from Ryan Bennett out to the left flank. Stop it, Ryan :icon_lol:

I was worried about Benno last night. 3 Coady/Neves passes but he sorted himself out near the end with a great booking for pinning the Arsenal lad to the floor
