The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Totally agree. So excited to get lost in it.

Remember the halcyon TWF days of Skyrim? I think we even had a dedicated thread that we all geeked out on - the prospect of that but in space (and probably 20 times the size) is really exciting.
all the great gameplay and well written stories but my first thought was astrid leaning over the table in the dark brotherhood. I am sick.

Anyone played FM23? Thinking of getting it tide me over a very long flight.

You'll get about 10 hours out of the demo for free:

Admittedly if you like it and want to pay for it, doing so mid-flight could be an issue :D

Not on Mac unfortunately :( got to install it on the work laptop as I cba to take 2

I'm still on 2020, I don't imagine 2023 is markedly different. Apparently the big upgrade is going to be 2025.

Some wankers will tell you it was better in 01/02 or whatever which I suppose it is if you want to cheat the match engine with fake tactics, sign the same cheat players on every save and win really easily all the time. I imagine Bruno Lage plays CM 01/02 as Man Utd/Real Madrid and glamours in what a superb coach he is as Mike Duff becomes the greatest RB/CH of all time.

Found 23 for £16 on cdkeys so might just bite the bullet. I've genuinely probably not played since CM 01/02, so...

Paddy's Big Book of Skyrim... 😂😂

That's gonna be a hell of an adjustment.

The latest games are so bloated and overly complicated now it's ridiculous. It literally feels like work to play it, as though you are actually the manager for real.

Some people enjoy that level of detail. Some of it is interesting, but most of it is a chore. I prefer my games to be a bit quicker and more fun.

Don`t know if it`s too late for you but there was very little upgrade between 22 and 23. Big changes coming for 24 apparently.

Grabbed it last night and lost the whole evening. Only played one friendly ffs

I tend to start unemployed as that bypasses the preseason nonsense and also makes it slightly more interesting as to who you get to manage (last play on 22).

I can't be arsed with modern stuff at the minute (for the most part) so I've been playing Sensi 96/97 instead. The developers obviously had it in for Wolves though, bad enough that they play in bright yellow but in my game they've been relegated both seasons and are in the old. third division.

You can pretty much ignore a lot of the complicated/ in depth stuff if you want - setting up the assistant manager to do all the press conferences and training and stuff saves a lot of time.

I went from FM20 to FM23 which felt like a decent upgrade but I struggle to get as into it and addicted as I used to. I’m looking forward to the big revamp in FM25 although I’ll have to either play it on the PS5 or get a whole new PC to actually play it I imagine.

Sounds like it’s Fallout in space, which I guess is to be expected. I never managed to get hooked by Skyrim but Fallout 4 was decent.

Currently playing Sea of Stars on PS5, proper classic 90's style RPG with a few modern twists. Really enjoying it so far.
