The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

They had a megadrive too with the volume on the console 🤷‍♂️

There was also several Amigas, Atari, NES, SNES and many more. Its an absolute miracle I got out without buying anything.
Aye, but that original version of the Genesis/MegaDrive also had stereo sound output. The future is now, man.

(I own two Genesis Model 1s, best looking version by a mile IMO. One of 'em is deader than a bag of rocks, though).

I still have 2 OG xboxs for some reason. One is Xecutor modded though :)

I also have a Game Gear which i have no idea how to get working...

As someone mentioned earlier, I have some older systems in storage that I really need to pull out just to see if they work haha. Favorites from Sega and Nintendo consoles in general are:

Sonic the Hedgehog-Genesis
Goldeneye-N64
Radiant Silvergun-Saturn
Chrono Trigger-Super Nintendo
Duck Hunt-Nintendo

These two alone would set you back almost as much as Jonzy's 4 TVs...

Haha for sure. Unfortunately, my copy of Chrono Trigger got damaged beyond repair in a move a few years ago smh, but I still have a copy of RS in immaculate shape. Still one of the best games I have ever played on any console.

Goldeneye has NOT aged well, like most early 3D games from the mid 90s.
The game plays ok IMO but the control system is terrible unless you have a N64 controller. Even remapping it doesn't make it too playable.

No doubt, but still one of the best FPS every made regardless imo. It was just so ahead of times time and still fun to mess around with.

Duke Nukem 3D and Quake have held up much better. Well, maybe not some of the "humour" from Duke.

Radiant Silvergun has been on my list for ages.

My current "rarest" trio are all shmups, I think...
  • Mars Matrix (Dreamcast, US 2001)
  • Soukyu-Gurentai (Saturn, JP 1997)
  • Layer Section (Saturn, JP 1995) [In fairness, I cheated a bit here as the US release, Galactic Attack, is much rarer and more expensive]
Mars Matrix is absurdly expensive for a complete copy these days. Was still pricey when I picked it up but not uncommon to see it going for $200 w/manual now. Still not in Radiant Silvergun territory, mind!

Fair enough friend. And Duke Nukem was awesome, though do remember throwing my controller because I couldn't get out of the fucking sewers!

Just finished Mass Effect 1 out of the Legendary Edition.
Most enjoyable and I know there is better to come.
People lost their shit when the 3rd game released; I think it has a massively bum rep (which is to say, I found the conclusion personally satisfying). Enjoy the journey; IMO there aren't many RPG series out there that do so right by their characters.

Bought Diablo IV for the ps5 this morning and already played it for about 6 hours haha.Deffo worth the hype,it's fantastic.Enjoying being a necromancer.😎

Cass bought a PS5 last week so I’ve had her PS4 and I can’t even be arsed to turn it on. Over 300 games on my PC as well and I never bother playing that anymore either, I start games, have an hour or so and never go back to them.

I don’t play many games because I have to finish them! I get great satisfaction in seeing the closing credits.

Scientists have trained rat neurons to play Doom.

The more I see of Starfield the more I think it is going to be absolutely epic.
I don’t often order games in advance but I love Bethesda games and I am so ready for this.
I played Fallout 4 and Skyrim for years and never tired of them. I’m hoping for the same experience.

Totally agree. So excited to get lost in it.

Remember the halcyon TWF days of Skyrim? I think we even had a dedicated thread that we all geeked out on - the prospect of that but in space (and probably 20 times the size) is really exciting.
