Better than Wilshere?

He doesn't tend to spend eight months a season injured so yes ;)

Ideally I think he'd like to pair the two, that would be great, but Xhaka-Elneny would work well as a base as well. I don't think he'll change formation now. He can't get away with using Coquelin there regularly (fine as a squad player but not really a top 4 starting player) or Ramsey (never been suited to playing deep). Arteta's gone and Flamini will go as well.

I wouldn't say they're particularly similar players. By virtue of generally being fit then yes he'll offer them more than Wilshere.

It should stop them from needing to play a Flamini/Coquelin who aren't good enough on the ball for the way they want to play.

How is that adding up on the Elneny buy? who has started more than average...

Always liked Xhaka since i saw him play for Basel, thought a "bigger" club would sign him before he moved to Gladbach but will be a great signing for Arsenal.

He looks pretty decent too but from what I've seen (which isn't much) he likes to break forward rather than just sit.

Elneny will be a big part of their squad next season principally because they won't be able to rely on Wilshere (49 starts in five seasons). It'll push Coquelin down the order which is where he belongs, fine to cover injuries and be on the bench for when you want to shore a game up.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirms he rejected big bids for Alexandre Lacazette. West Ham's €40m the biggest.

Rumours that Hibs could be deducted 20 points from the start of next season for the pitch invasion. Incredibly harsh IMO.

Rangers players being attacked will be the reason for that.

If it was just the fans going at each other it would be warnings and/or fines. The moment punches are thrown at the players it becomes a different matter.

20 points is harsh but a warning has to be handed out. A further season in the Championship due to the behaviour of the fans is a clear warning to others.

But it is punishing the wrong people. It would not surprise me ifmost of those involved in the trouble rarely attend games at Easter Road. Also how do Hibernian attract the players they want when they will almost certainly be unable to gain promotion.

In my opinion the best way would have been to ban Hibernian from next seasons cup competition, and strip them of the trophy they won yesterday.

You can't strip them of the trophy Frank. You would spend all summer in the courts.

Just clocked that Leverkusen signed Kevin Volland.

They've got a seriously talented bunch of players on their hands at the moment.

Lots of rumours surrounding Celtic after they appointed Rodgers.

Johnny Russell, Robert Snodgrass, Joe Allen, Steven Caulker, Aiden McGeady and even Stevie G as a player/coach have been mentioned.

dont see many of those players going..maybe mcgeady cause he is shit, or caulker

Would've thought all but Caulker and McGeady would be too expensive for them the way they seem to operate these days.

I doubt that Brentdan would've taken the job if je wasn't promised money to spend.

I suspect they've been stockpiling cash over the last four seasons knowing that they'd win the league regardless, keeping the funds back for when they had a proper domestic challenge again.

Warburton wants Graham Dorrans apparently, that would be a hell of a signing for that league.

Perhaps but I can't see those players coming cheap, Derby seem to be pretty flush with cash and Russell is still a regular for them, Snodgrass cost Hull a fair whack and could be on the way back to the Premier League, Allen cost Liverpool a big sum and still gets fairly regular use off the bench. I'd guess the selling clubs wouldn't even begin to be interesting in talking unless you were offering £5m+ for any of them and it doesn't seem common to hear those sort of numbers around the SPL lately.

Gerrard has been pretty poor in LA so could see that move happening.

no way Gerrard will play in the SPL
