Patrick Bamford about to sign for Middlesbrough on a seasons loan.

Explains the Twitter meltdown by Wolves fans then....

Would love to have got him at Wolves, but no idea if the link was just E&S firing names all over the shop until one sticks or we were properly interested.

Griezmann to Atleti. Cracking signing.

The fullback at Doncaster James Husband also signing for Middlesbrough.

Chambers to Arsenal is done.

He'll be a fantastic player in time.

Not sure where his long term position will be though, he was mainly a central midfielder for Saints U21's and Wenger has talked about him maybe playing centre back as well.

Wigan have had a bid rejected for Adam Forshaw.

Spurs trying to sign Rodriguez and Schneiderlin.

Blimey - Southampton are going to end up with fewer players than Blackpool

I dunno.

Even without signing anyone (and if Schneiderlin/Rodriguez go) they could still field:

--------------------------Boruc---------------------

Clyne------------Fonte-----------Yoshida----------Targett

----------------Cork------------Wanyama-------------

----Ward-Prowse--------Ramirez----------Tadic-----------

------------------------Pelle------------------------------

Which looks ok. At least not miles worse than the 7-8 teams you would expect to struggle, then say, West Ham who might look better on paper but then they have a terrible manager at war with the board. Then you can spend £100m+ on it if you want.

S'ton forums don't appear to agree with you DW - a lot appear to be fearing the worst in that whilst they have the money, think that little of it is going to go back into the team.

(However, agree that your line up should get above 3 others)

Hasn't Fonte had a few bids in for him as well?

Fraser Forster strongly linked with a move to Saints by the press up here. He'd be a great signing and a huge improvement on The Holy Goalie.

Pessimism reigning supreme above logic and reason on a football forum? I don't believe it.

Fonte won't go anywhere, it's Cardiff bidding for him. Why would he drop a level?

That doesn't look too awful, although Ramirez is slow as molasses and Pelle is a big lump. They could easily enough nab a player or two with their money and look pretty safe to me.
