The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Could go in the fitness thread, but here is as good as anywhere:
1st weekend of October I quietly decided to have a go at trying to not smoke. Have smoked for over 35 years & while never a heavy smoker, it has been an every day habit for a long time. I also realised all the "I'm not an addict" tropes I came out with (can give up when I want, it's a choice blah blah).
So, went cold turkey.

Quite pleased that I've gone 3 months without cracking. Noticed some small improvements already in my physical health, sense of smell & taste too. My sleep is better also. Was a little surprised it wasn't a bit harder tbh - after the first couple of days challenging the habit, it was...fine.

Small targets at first, go a day without, go 2 days without, get to the weekend, do a full week etc. I actually didn't realise I'd passed 3 months!
Well done! Having done it myself, after several attempts, I know how hard it can be. Smoke free for coming up to 20 years now. 3 months was my turning point. Up until then, I went through hell. I couldn`t have gone cold turkey. Patches got me through it, I used to have the most incredible dreams. So much so that I was tempted to keep applying them even though I was over the craving for cigarettes just for the kick I got out of the dreams. Crazy, I know.
