The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Fun fact that the nurse told me today:
Boys bladders are sensitive to temperature changes, so if you remove his nice warm nappy, he is likely to empty his bladder in response to the change in temp.
The technique she showed us today was that you open the nappy, exposing his willy for a second, then cover his willy back up again as he is likely peeing.
Give it a minute and then remove and change. Saw it in action today and it was spot on.
I also saw a green poo...
I'm still sensitive to cold and it still makes me want to wee more than normal.

Just one of the many colours and flavours.

My son was born yesterday afternoon. Absolutely crazy day, wife woke up at 4am with severe backache but no contractions. Waters broke at 7:45am, the timing couldn't have been worse as we then met all the rush hour traffic as we came into the city on our way to hospital.I should probably expect a couple of traffic tickets as I definitely broke some laws - doing 67kmh in a 50kmh zone etc. but my wife was in a lot of pain sitting in traffic so that was stressful.
Once we got to hospital we had our own room with two lovely nurses. My wife had to be induced as they found traces of meconium in the waters, increasing chances of infection. She was induced at 12:30, we were told it normally takes about 5hrs to bring on active labour. At 1:30 she had an epidural and at 3pm the nurse did an exam as my wife felt the epidural hadnt worked and it turned out she was fully dilated and baby was crowning! So after a short half an hour of pushing, a new little Wolf cub was born at 3:30pm. So so proud of my wife and bursting with love and pride looking at my little boy.

Belated congrats mate, enjoy every minute!

I said inside the Arctic Circe, not the North Pole!
Son lives in Bodo.
Big fan of Bodo. Mainly as they let us in the ground for free when Wolves played them in a pre-season game.

My only other memory of Bodo is the town stinking of fish

Apparently, Bodo used to be a bit of a kip, kind of grew with no direction or leadership.
In fact I believe that one year it got voted the worst town in Norway. So the city fathers thought enough of this! So they threw money at it and put fancy regulations in place.
Now the long main street is a lovely covered, galleried pedestrian area. The quays have all been remodelled, a marina built, tarmac everywhere, and seating areas aplenty along with lovely lighting all along the waterfront.
It should be good mind you, It has Norway's most Northern train station, an international airport, a thriving, playing Europe football club, ferries out to the islands. Fucking lovely place to live!

Me and Mrs Darlo are off away till Friday, having a short break in Amsterdam to celebrate her Birthday which is on Wednesday. We're going with my brother Gerry and his wife so looking forward to a couple of new beers to try.

I'm avoiding the brownies etc as I like my job!

Recommend Brouwerij 't IJ if you fancy getting out of the main centre. A 30 min walk from the train station. Just head towards the windmill.

My eldest great grandaughter did the practice comp on Saturday (in preparation for December's team comp in the nationals) and her coach come over at end to say that she got top marks in the group. Out of a maximum of 11.5 she attained 10.4 which is amazing and everyone is so happy for her. Needless to say she is over the moon and I'm as proud as punch.

Nothing really to do with me, but my postman is a lovely skinny little guy, flies around the place, loves his job, his 11 year old son plays for his local team and won through a tournament and the prize was to go to Barcelona to play other European teams.
Saw him this morning and asked...
"They won it! Won the whole damn thing! Only conceded 1 goal and won the Best Goalkeeper Award too!
He was so proud of his little kid, I was standing in my front garden filling up!!
