Walking Ben Nevis with my 8 year old, he didn't complain once even though the weather was grim.

I walked it at his age so passing a little bit of family history down.
My lad was 10 when he did it...we were lucky with the weather, in fact I've been lucky with the weather on Ben Nevis the 4 times I've done it.
Hope your lad enjoyed, ours all went hill walking as youngsters and still enjoy it in their 30s

Nice one, that's what I'm hoping to install in them, I love hiking although I'm that busy I only get out a few times a year.

I have to say I am very jealous of you getting good weather, 3 times I've been up and I've never been able to see anything!

A couple of times we were camping in Glen Nevis for the week so just waited for a good day.
We did 3 peaks challenge once which entailed climbing up in the evening and watching the sun go down, followed by coming down Snowdon with the sun coming up....that was epic

Yeah I'm at Glen Nevis for a few days, it was nice yesterday and would have gone but I was shattered and wanted a beer the night before. My own fault but there you go.

I attempted the 3 peaks a couple of years back, I'd ruined my feet the week before walking the malvens on the hottest day of the year with rubbish socks. I managed Ben Nevis but my feet were cut to ribbons at the end of it so failed the other two.

It's got the tomb of King John there which I was totally unaware of - and plenty of historical stuff to read on our way round too. Would definitely recommend it if you're in the city.

I think Mrs DW just wanted to keep me away from New Road to be honest, she's not a cricket fan :D

Glad you're having fun, we often look around churches and cathedrals when we on holiday even though I'm an atheist....they're interesting places imo
If only they could find something useful to do with them...

It's a pretty good place to live :)

Edit: to confirm, i don't live in the Cathedral :D

On holiday on Loch a’ Choire (Fort William, turn left, take ferry, near Mull) and with the freakish high pressure locked in will never complain about duff weather again. Hopefully the staycations/uk holidays (delete as appropriate) many of us are having will help us see and appreciate things in a different light. The lochs are still like bath water and the sun glistens on the surface.
Managed to capture a video of THREE eagles soaring on the thermals overhead. An out of focus zoomed-in still from the vid for those that appreciate the majesty of that sort of thing:C4D59206-DBE2-4F9C-9EFE-FCCBE2AD513A.jpeg

Did you climb to the top of the tower Deutsch wolf ?? Absolutely stunning views (when you get your brearh back).

Nope, some stuff is still off limits sadly, but we'll return for sure.

4 eagles soaring overhead on the thermals today, an incredible sight. No idea if that’s an extremely rare and fortunate sight or if they are ten-a-penny in this part of the world. Either way, a beautiful thing to see.

Can’t imagine there are too many days a year when the lochs are like this, but when they are, just breathtaking:
