We've got a decent covering of snow down in Somerset.

You know, I lived there for 4-5 years and still spend half my working week between Swindon, Bristol and Portishead and I've never seen it snow down there.

Worst Sunday League side ever win two on the bounce after previous 5-6 game losing streak.

Not quite sure where our turn around has come from, still pretty much the same players but we haven't had a proper keeper the last two weeks when we've won, perhaps that has subconciously made everyone a bit more cautious and bought about a new found solidity. Should've scored about 10 today if our one forward had managed any sort of reasonable conversion rate, he ruined what would've been a lovely assist for me but then i did likewise screwing a shot wide of the far post after we'd played a neat 1-2, though our most telling link up was both drawing awful challenges from the opponents centre midfielder to see him leave the field with 2 yellows.

Nice one Mark! What position are you playing?

I've played centre mid in the last 2 games, i'd reverted back to left back for a few games before that though.

I quite like playing in the middle, most teams tend to have some bloke in there who thinks he's a superstar and constantly tries to demand the ball and do everything themselves, i enjoy spending the entire game following them round and just stopping them having it there way. There was one such guy in a team we played against last year who ended up playing all his team mates every time i forced him to lose the ball, it was either a bad pass to him or no-one moving or whatever other shit he could think up whenever he failed to do everything single handedly, he didn't once track back either so i had plenty of space going forwards.

Nice. I've played most positions but for last year or so finally been able to just play centre midfield and now I'm really getting confident there. I think it's the most enjoyable position to play really.

Yeah, playing at the shit level that i do you can often see very little involvement in a game if you're stuck out at fullback or something, used to be great playing left back for my old team a few years back, we were in the bottom league as a new team and were playing against utter garbage most weeks, had 2 lads in centre mid that had been playing together for 10 years or so and they just dominated games. I spent pretty much the entire game most weeks just jogging up and down the line at will, we had some pretty decent wingers too so they'd usually end up drawing plenty of attention leaving loads of space for me to stroll into.

Haven't had a single game like that with the team i play for now though, playing fullback usually means you dont make it out of your half all game and spend most of your time sprinting back to cover a centre half who has fucked up from a long ball yet again.

I used to enjoy playin centre mid aswell, but I think my best days playing football were at school, when I played a lot on the left wing. Im right footed so I used to beat the defender for pace every time and open up space towards the touchline and then cut inside to either shoot or square it back across the box, as I cant cross it very well on my left foot, much like Jarvis. I never set out to play on the left wing it was just a role I became good at.

I've never been physical enough to play centre mid though I can see the attraction in playing there. Either right side of midfield or second striker for me.

I was never a fan of left back to begin with, i'm right footed too, but i've found it more enjoyable in recent years, not many players seem to expect the fullback coming inside when they've pushed up to support the winger.

I'm slowly creeping my way up the pitch, was usually the closest midfielder to the forwards for most of our game today, dont think i'd have enough about me to play as an out and out forward though but i reckon i could do a job playing just off a big unit up top, trying to pick up the knock downs and stuff, think i've got pretty decent with my movement lately. Cant see that ever happening though, then again we've thrown out some odd tactical musings some weeks so there's still hope for me yet.

Yep and on horrible cold winter days standing there freezing in the cold it wasn't particularly nice. At least in the middle you have an excuse to wonder about!

Do you find it easier to beat a man on the left rather than right? I'm naturally right footed, and always found it awkward trying to take people on out on the right ut on the left it just felt more comfortable. I'd draw them in and push it down the line. Problem was I wasn't quick enough to get away!

I'm living proof that you don't need to be physical to play centre mid, I'd make Olofinjana look a dominating midfielder in physical terms... ha!

It's not just stature, I don't have and never have had the stamina to play in there, plus I'm from the Paul Scholes school of tackling. I'll try very hard but I just can't do it.

Suppose, I'm can get about the pitch reasonably well(though my team mates claim I don't run much, think it's jsut my style ha) so perhaps makes up for it a little. With you on the tackling, I always leave it to late and then commit to a tackle, giving a free kick away. Still never been booked though :disco:

Yes, definitely. When I played out on the left side I noticed that the defender would obviously be strongest on his right foot as he was playing RB, so when I ran at players I used to knock it on with my right towards the line, stop it on my left, then switch it inside with the outside of my right foot, taking it past the defenders weaker left foot. A few years ago we stole my mate Mark Valentines Mums bra off her washing line and used it as a trophy for the crazy 15 a side we used to play every St Patricks Day. The Valentine Cup is still one of the most hotly contested cups in football today....

Making and hearing my baby girl laugh for the first time today. Very exciting, and mummy was there to capture the moment on the old nokia!

That's ace mate. A great moment!

Were you showing her your PTG team?

I was reading her your Chesney hissy fits :icon_lol:
