Talking to my youngest & find that he has sorted out his new premises for the business in that he can stay in the same workshop at no rent just has to cover the bills (which the business is anyway) & this with the retirement of his partner saves over £40k per year.
(To make sense of what that means - his partner owned the freehold & went into partnership with my son, who had worked for him for 12 years, as he was trying to sell & retire, but couldn't get any one to buy and didn't want to run the business on a day to day basis, but just come in 3 days a week and do a bit of work. Finally sold it to someone who is seriously wealthy, owns roughly 30 cars most of which are stored in a barn and quintuple garage at his house, but wanted somewhere to 'work on' project cars he had bought at auction. He has offered my son half the workshop, which is more than enough space for him, plus the bake oven at no rent. Plus he will get to do the more technical jobs re bodywork on this blokes cars.
Seeing as how, with any other space locally where he has all his business contacts, he was looking at anything up to 50% rental increase for far less space this is a really good deal).
PS -well done YW -how many more years have you got at the same level of achievement to actually get a First?
