The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Sunny day so I can finally get the garden tidied up. Love it :eek:ldman:

Brilliant today - shirtsleeve order for the first time this year. Made a start on preparing the part of the garden that will become my Japanese style courtyard area (this to bring calm back into my life after a Wolves loss)

Put some pics up when your Japanese courtyard is finished , always wanted one of those, but it would look out of place in my garden . Been snowing here today !

Will do, though at the speed I am currently working that may take some time!

Fortunate that I have some useful planting already in place, problem seems to be that having read various books on the subject my plans keep getting amended & the fact that if I want authentic artefacts then the cost can be fairly high.

My friends , true friends that like me for the person I am, and not the person they want to change and mould into something I am not .

Paddy 1 Weeds 0. Makes me fucking happy to have eradicated the fucking things from two big borders today before it started raining.

Bloody hate gardening, probably because I'm so crap at it. But had a decent crack at it this weekend.

Our back garden is small and very child unfriendly so I've started trying to get it in to shape for the summer. The whole yard is covered with stones/gravel, and there is a pond in the corner that's not fenced off. It was full (and I mean FULL) of pond weed and vegetation, and it stank.
Anyway, the plan was to get rid off all that crap, empty the pond with a bucket then fill it up with some of the stones from the yard. Get rid of the rest of the stones on freecycle/TWFBay and lay some turf. Oh and there's loads of mature plants and ivy that need taming too, but that can wait.

Progress made so far:
Pond emptied (including two frogs that are now living in a bucket), water removed, pond lining slashed and stabbed to drain rain water away.

Almost filled with stones from about 1/4 of the yard (forgive the washing line!).

Still loads to do, but I'm glad I've made a start as that's the first and biggest hurdle a lot of the time.

Oh, and if anyone want a couple of frogs and/or a load of gravel/stones, then let me know :D

Good work Machin. I hate gardening with a passion so I admire your efforts. It was annoying enough that I had to mow our tiny lawn this morning!

Release the frogs to wild Machin. I'd keep that gravel in a bag for the winter as well.

What would I do with it in the winter?!

chuck it in the road, that way the neighbours would think that you are trying to help in the snowy conditions.
I don't think you're really the 'go to guy' for advice on dealing with snowy conditions!

Happy to be goin for lunch with the unbelievable 19yr old I pulled at the weekend. Especially as my 32 yr old housemate had pulled a 20 yr old on Friday and was giving me loads for a lack of any action of late. Im off work today and there is an ice bucket on the roof terrace with a bottle of wine in it that shall be put to good use today.
