The things that I really, really like thread...

Wouldn't beat yourself up LJ - sounds as if your colleagues (& more importantly those above) have accepted that this was merely a mistake. I know that in my 47 yrs at work there are things I did that I really wish that I hadn't & were a real fuck up (from a commercial view rather than anyone getting hurt).

Bit of aggro in the short term, but doesn't define your life.
lots of colleagues have been saying similar. Good thing is their actions tell me they are defining me by all the good stuff I've already done, rather than this one mistake. That helps.

We all fuck up now and then. Don't worry about it (coming from a man who doubts himself all the time for no reason)
True mate. I need to be taking my own type of advice now.

Feeling better about it all tonight.

When I was very young and just starting out in banking, something I did caused a poor woman to end up in Asda unable to pay for her groceries or get home. Now that was proper guilt (and it was my fault as well).

What you've done sounds like a technical breach which shouldn't happen and can't happen again, but it probably isn't going to impact on anyone materially.

Chill out, have a Bass Shandy or something and write it off. None of us are perfect.

Was a lending officer in a Bank for 15 yrs & thought that I had a decent 'nose', but still got conned for £20,000 from an individual who it turned out had done almost every other bank in town. Got away with about £100,000 in total (& this was the early 90's so worth more than now) - spent it then made themselves bankrupt. Got nothing back from that.

Then managed to lend £40,000 to an ex customer who lived in Bahama - only took a lien over a term deposit there as security rather than the property he owned in the UK (must have been a Friday afternoon as no idea why I did that) - the specialist recovery team managed to get about 35% of the money back in the end. Got shouted at a bit by the Senior Manager in the biggest branch in South London, but survived.

Still made that Bank a lot more profit than I lost with those deals so don't feel bad about it.

My motto is that in five years time, nobody will remember.
Staff will of moved on, you may of moved on, anybody affected will have forgotten about it.

Forget about it. Its done.

I worked with a guy who burst a water main in Mayfair, had Porsches and Bentley's floating down the street. Nobody's forgetting that!

Emails and stuff usually get forgotten within days or weeks though.

I saw a water main burst in Bristol, right in front of an open top bus. It was magnificent.

Nice one. Just put our one year old down in 5 mins too, nice to have peace and quiet.

If only our 9 year old twins would have a nap too... [emoji849]

The way hubby planned everything down to the last minute, the huge obstacles, and nightmares we faced during all this and the way he fixed them and got us home. It wasn't easy, but he did it.

Anyway, it's a Sunday walk, and a roast beef dinner with the family for me.

PPB signing off :)

Enjoy Sue.

You have watching Wolves games at a normal time to look forward to as well.

Day out in Bridgnorth. Lunch in The Kings Head. Walk by the river. Get back to a solicitors call with a moving in date :)

Bridgnorth is ace. My favourite pub is the Railwaymans Arms up at the Severn Valley Railway. Amazing beer in there, and a proper pub atmosphere.

We had a really nice meal in The Kings Head a few months ago, excellent food.

Not been in that one yet Langers, maybe next time. Lovely meal today, and really friendly bar staff, nice pint too.

Well done on the house purchase PPB - doesn't seem to have taken too long (which isn't always the case)

We knew which one we wanted before we moved back. Viewed it, put offer in, and it was accepted. It was the only one we looked at. It just felt right. Sellers are just moving out, with no property to buy which has helped and made things easier. Certainly a lot easier than selling and buying in the States that's for sure Parkin.

Our house was the only one viewed, and was being sold by a family who were selling it (it was a parents home) and also their own home. Think they were emigrating. so it was already empty. still too nearly 3 months though, but after 2nd viewing the offer was accepted next day (the sunday!) In fact 1st viewing to offer accepted was only 8 days.

Never owned anywhere before, and expected a knock on the door with someone telling me there seemed to have been a terrible mistake and we were in their house for a good 6 months!

Viewing showed the house to be better than either of us thought.

Well happy here. Hope you will be too PPB.

Oh, and another vote for Bridgnorth as a top day out. Biased obvs, but love the bowling greens on the island in the river. Mate of mine used to live in the severn arms hotel - his parents owned it.

My neighbours have moved out and no one has come in yet, I would be worried but I know you have zero plans to come back to your proper home...

Oi!! Ya could do worse than have me for a neighbour! But you are right, absolute zero plans to want to move back there :icon_lol:

Bridgnorth is great,Norman castle that actually leans more than the leaning tower of Pisa, and the only inland cliff railway in the country, couple of dull facts to whip your friends up into a coma
