You just need to make your account only viewable to those you want to see your stuff (not like him!!) and then random odd balls won't be able to send you things

Go into the Privacy Settings and select the following:

Who can see my stuff (again, not him) - Select "Friends"

Who can contact me:
Whose messages to I want filtered : Select Strict Filtering
Who can look me up: Select "Friends"

I use it primarily to keep in touch with various people who I am friends with but live nowhere near me. I don't see anything on there from the general public...
