The Tennis Thread

I was wrong. Unforced errors creeping In to Novaks game combined with some excellent defence and some great shots from Murray . Serving to take it to a decider.

Murray hasn't hit many winners but has taken the set. Ridiculous amount of errors for Djokovic. If Murray can up his game then he can win the 5th set. But Djokovic won't keep missing

Djokovic wins the fifth set easily. Bit of a shame that Murray couldn't win but he has had another good Roland Garros.

A strong effort on what is easily his weakest surface. Got to be heavy favourite for Wimbledon as it stands.

You are probably right, but in order to win Wimbledon, he will more than likely have to beat Djokovic at some stage, and Murray has lost his last eight matches against Djokovic.

Never lost to him on grass though...

If Djokovic does win Wimbledon (I expect him to win with a degree of comfort tomorrow) then he'll probably do the Grand Slam which no-one has done in men's tennis since Rod Laver in 1969. Anyway those two are out in front now I would say, Federer and Nadal aren't ever going to get back to the standard they were.

Federer still has it in him on grass. He was unlucky last year.

US should be a cracker. Novak isn't as good there as at the Australian.

I think injuries have. Took their toll on Nadal, but he may be able to get back to somewhere near what he was. As for Federer, old Father Time is having his say. At the moment I think Djokovic is head and shoulders above any of his challengers.

Djokovic needs to pull something special out of the hat. Maybe the semi final going into the extra day has took its toll.

And Djokovic wins the first three games of the fourth set. Amazing stuff, I thought he looked down and out.

A great fightback by Stan, he now leads 5 - 4 in fourth set. Serving to win the match.

And wins - Djokovic fought him all the way, but a stunning performance by Stan

Wawrinka wins the French title. A superb game. Excellent tennis from both players.

I wouldn't say so, Stan is a fine player but he's already 30 and he's too flaky to get to finals with any regularity. He nearly dropped out of the top 10 earlier in the season.

Rafa is down to number 10 now and arguably shouldn't be included in the Big Four any more. If Roland Garros refuse to weight seedings like Wimbledon do then it just means he's going to come up against the likes of Novak earlier on and have less chance of winning. I wouldn't rule him out of ever winning the French again but he'd need to move up the rankings significantly to have a really good chance of adding to his tally. He looks extremely unlikely to ever have an impact on Wimbledon again. He hasn't even made it as far as the quarters in the last three years.

You'd think that hard and clay would hurt the knees more than soft grass.
