The Tennis Thread

Nah - you can slide on clay much more safely than on grass. Agreed on hard courts though - may be the worst.

Nadal out in the first round at Queen's.

Clearly the injuries have taken their toll on Nadal. He does not seem the same player as before.

Won a Tournament on Grass last week didn't he? (the surface not drugs)

Won in Stuttgart, it's a low profile event though. On the ATP 250 circuit which is the lowest tier.

Will Wimbledon load the seedings to place Andy Murray vs Nadal in a potential semi-final with Djokovic and Federer the better grass court players in the other side of the draw.

Nadal will be lucky to be seeded in the top ten. He'll end up facing one of the big guns much earlier than the semi-final, assuming he doesn't get knocked out straight away.

Top 4 seeds will match the rankings. After that who knows, Nadal is 10th in the world before this week, wouldn't be surprised to see him get 8th seed though so he avoids top seeds until quarters

Kevin Anderson beats Wawrinka. Grass is not Stan's strongest suit at all.

Murray comfortably through in straight sets against Verdasco. Won with plenty left in the tank.

Murray loses the first set against Muller 3-6, wins the second set on a tie breaker and has now broken Muller in the first game of the final set

He's had to work hard for this (which is no bad thing). Müller has been excellent.

Murray takes it, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. Plays Troicki or Isner tomorrow.

Troicki down with a shoulder injury at 3-3 in the first set. Doesn't look very good.

Kevin Anderson won the other semi. Elsewhere Laura Robson finally made her comeback at Eastbourne but by going in the main draw rather than taking a wildcard ended up drawing the top seed and lost 6-0 6-1. Just good to get her back on court though.

She has been out for a terribly long time. Hope she can get back to where she was as she looked very promising.

Murray safely through after the rain ended proceedings last night. Good job it didn't go to a third.

Anderson is playing very well but Murray tends to fare well against big servers, he has the best recovery/defence game around.

Murray breaks in the fourth game of the first set after a truly horrible smash with the court wide open by Anderson
