The Summer 2024 Transfer Thread.

Well maybe but we'll never know.
We already do, the club spent the period from Xmas up to today briefing via the usual outlets that he'd be off this Summer. The likes of Keen and Judah wouldn't have been as strong on it if they hadn't been tipped the wink

Yep, this was always likely, the only thing that would prevent it is if a) he'd got injured again in the summer so wouldn't even be fit for the opening months of the season or b) lack of liquidity at the top clubs in terms of available spend (this is what's ruled Spurs out if they're also buying Solanke).

Chelsea is an absolute nuthouse though. I wouldn't put money on them having the same manager at Christmas or not buying yet another wide player in January.

They might not wait 4 days to do this, let alone 4 months!

Is there any chance we go in for Chalobah or someone now from Chelsea as a (obviously not) separate deal?

As for the fee - he might up his numbers at another club but he simply doesn't score enough goals to be in the real top tier of wide players. 14 in 135 for us (4 in 56 over the last 3 seasons). He's brilliant to watch and we know all about his assists, but if you want to attract £70m+ bids then you need better overall output than that.

This and his injury record mean in my eyes it’s a decent fee.

Good deal given his injury record. Sad to seehim go all the same.

Neto>Neves>Jota

We have got more for Neto than either Neves or Jota - in that context, looks a good deal for us.

Chelsea are fine because they keep selling off academy players who for the most part are better than the ones they’re buying. They have something like 44 players now and still trying for Osimhen too

Elsewhere Marseille are signing Nketiah on loan with a £30m obligation to buy. You'd think that ends their interest in Hwang.

That’s a fair point. We are all guilty of being biased or sucked in to ‘one of our own’

The lads quality when fit, but when you factor in his injury record, alongside his goal and assists numbers, then it’s a valid point.

You go on a 150 mile drive check your phone when you reach your destination and this happens..
