The Summer 2024 Transfer Thread.

I hope we don't sign Forbs.

Don't know anything about him, I just won't be able to deal with people still spelling his name Forbes after he's been here for like 4 years.
Man, people couldn't stop spelling David Davis "David Davies" or Kevin McDonald "Kevin MacDonald", Scott Golbourne "Scott Goldbourne"...

Point is it we're fucked on that count no matter what.

Keough

Not sure we could expect a lot more in the way of a fee... Pedro's a star but his injury record just isn't very good.
Unless he pushed for a move that's irrelevant. He's worth more to us than 51m. Far more.

Of course it's relevant; we can't just strop around denying everything up to 70m or whatever. At a certain point you have to know that the game is only ending one way, and you can come out of it with 50m or nothing.

It's only relevant if he's thrown his toys out the pram. We're not here to provide other teams with players.

Well maybe but we'll never know.
We already do, the club spent the period from Xmas up to today briefing via the usual outlets that he'd be off this Summer. The likes of Keen and Judah wouldn't have been as strong on it if they hadn't been tipped the wink

Yep, this was always likely, the only thing that would prevent it is if a) he'd got injured again in the summer so wouldn't even be fit for the opening months of the season or b) lack of liquidity at the top clubs in terms of available spend (this is what's ruled Spurs out if they're also buying Solanke).

Chelsea is an absolute nuthouse though. I wouldn't put money on them having the same manager at Christmas or not buying yet another wide player in January.

They might not wait 4 days to do this, let alone 4 months!

Is there any chance we go in for Chalobah or someone now from Chelsea as a (obviously not) separate deal?

As for the fee - he might up his numbers at another club but he simply doesn't score enough goals to be in the real top tier of wide players. 14 in 135 for us (4 in 56 over the last 3 seasons). He's brilliant to watch and we know all about his assists, but if you want to attract £70m+ bids then you need better overall output than that.

This and his injury record mean in my eyes it’s a decent fee.
