The Summer 2018 Transfer Thread

Yeah, didn’t work this season, did it?

Loads were shipped out though that couldn't fit the system. We've not seen Hause at all despite his attributes potentially being better than others who've played, Afobe doesnt fit it as we look worse with him at times. Playing on a back 3 or as a wb is different to any 4 at the back system. AC had huge issues moving to 3 at the back for example after signing Bonnuci and he has struggled to revert back to being in a CB pairing . If you think every signing next year is just going to insert like for like then we'd be extremely charmed for that to happen.

It's nothing to do with mates. Continuity and understanding is a huge part of a sides success. One of Ferguson's greatest strengths at Utd was the management and fostering of that culture. The two players I mentioned both know our system and have the attitude to understand the squad role.

That could be key. Its probably the difference between a side like Palace and the subs they made versus Stoke, Benteke, Schulp, Kelly. Versus 3 guys Stoke used that I had never heard of. The starting 11s of the teams 10th down arent wholy different quality wise. Having a plan outside the starting 11 will be key.

He's absolutely right. But the press is the last place to make it known.

no,he's completely within his right , the seasons finished and he's talking about players that I doubt he's even seen during his time at the club.
They had 2 Barca players and sent them on loan elsewhere...£18million on another player...clubs a joke.
Still I'd rather get Foster from down the road for less than 25 million though.

He doesn't want to leave Albion, he's way past his best now, has recurrent injury issues (don't think he trains fully every day any more) and he's 35 now. No way we'll be in for that kind of player.

Balotelli has basically confirmed he's leaving Nice. We will 100% be linked with him.

Thanked everyone for two great years at Nice on Instagram.

Probably going to get banned after being caught on camera slagging off French referees.

It was a pretty open secret that he was going anyway. For the avoidance of doubt I do not want the fruitloop anywhere near here.

I'd have him at villa, that's quite near here

Oops, I read your post as Bonatini. God knows why having re-read it.

Don't believe that for a second.

Arsenal have plenty of spare cash and they aren't scrimping on wages now. Özil is on £350k a week for crying out loud, they'll be paying Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang silly money too. Their obstacle in keeping/attracting players is no longer money because it's there and they will spend it. It's that they've slipped a long way from the very top end of the league.

It was being reported that they were offering less than he was already on, presumably that was because they didn't trust his fitness. It wouldn't surprise me if we'd offered more solely because I don't think they'll be that arsed if they do lose him.
