The Second Club Thread

Basford v Hednesford for me on Saturday. Probably the only time l’ll get to see them player one another given the latters struggles as they won’t be in the same league next season (or even exist at this rate)

I presume you know, but just in case as you've written the wrong way round it's at Hednesford

Tamworth v Nuneaton has been abandoned after 60 minutes with Tamworth leading 2-0 due to crowd trouble. 🙁

Not a good start to the season for Charlotte, lost to that smug cunt Bruce Arena and New England.

Lattanzio with some weird decisions and players who are known shite being known shite. All three DPs poor in the end, Jozwiak and Swiderski outright wretched, Copetti ran around a lot but didn’t affect the game at all.

Backup GK is really awful, spilled things he shouldn’t have, put in a couple of Lonergan flaps, and beaten at his near post for the winner (in the 87th, no less).

Pretty crap way to end the day. On to the next.

Morning after:

We still use the ball and space to excellently. Adil Malanda looked every bit as imperious as I hoped he would. Byrne had a torrid game but held up okay.

Not the start we wanted and losing to the Revs feels like shit because Arena is truly one of the least likable characters in American soccer.

Plenty to build on but it’s going to be rough for a bit if we don’t get more than 0 from our wingers.

If they make it five I'll buy a shirt.
It is five!

1-0, Irvine scored the only goal.

7th now. 11 points off the top three with 12 to play so no chance of that, but crucially 12 points (plus GD) clear of trouble. That didn't look likely at Christmas.

I suppose I will try and take in a Brisbane Roar game. A-league is a pretty low standard though.

Great win for Celtic yesterday against the Huns. Watched the game in a packed little pub in Bilbao.

It is. Roarcelona (I know) currently 9th in an 11 team league, 8 points adrift of the Mariners who are 2nd. Not sure on pricing at Brisbane, but 20 bucks will get you in at the Industree Stadium.

However, there is something good when standing in the sunshine watching a game whilst having a beer.

I think MDTFC are fucked this season. I shall be popping down in a few weeks to watch a huge 6 pointer v Tividale...

On the plus side and somewhat forgotten about. A cup comp they played in the summer resumes this week and they are somehow in the Semi Final of that (they did play teams even further down the ladder than them and possible at least one U13 team...). They "should" win their semi final against another lower level team but as the other semi is 2 teams in the same Division as MDT, they won't be winning it.

It will be interesting to see what MDT do next season. Not sure how a club can function where the first team and 'reserves' aren't linked and so there is no movement between sides to reflect form or ability. First teamers are signed on contracts where regardless of ability/form get paid and played anyway. Likewise reserves or 'Tigers' can be tearing up the level they are at and not get a first team place.

I'm guessing get relegated again.

I think they are trying a theory that if they keep going down they will discover its not a ladder but a circle and eventually they will appear in the Prem League

There was talk of a two tier relegation at MDT's request, to start and build again with a new budget/team. It was suggested as a new young team but I don't think they're exactly 'old' as it is.

Sounds like they need some grit and experience. I'm taking my boots in a couple of weeks. I played in Germany, just like Paul Lambert.

In all seriousness I'm trying to imagine how bad it can be :D I'll soon find out...

I think either Willenhall or Dudley in the 90s were the worst "proper" teams in terms of pure quality I've ever watched.

Just need Tigger to come out of retirement to make you look like David Beckham again.
