The Rugby Thread

I'm the same...Both parents were from Dublin but I was born in Corby. I want all the home nations to do well and have no hatred for any of them...The vitriol from Scottish and Welsh fans bemuses me if I'm honest

If the majority of England's fans had a similar attitude to the rest of the home nations I'd find it a bit cringeworthy.
Regardless of what's been said on this thread I'll be wanting Ireland to go all the way and I certainly don't want to see Scotland get battered tomorrow.

I want the Australian cricket team to lose every game they play, that's principally because they're packed full of appalling characters. In general though I don't wish ill on other international teams, I like to see all the Home Nations and Ireland do well (obviously not in the Six Nations).

This is what I find strange too. My old man was Scottish and he never had the mindset of Anybody But England and neither do my cousins, and Glasgow is a pretty anti-England place most of the time. It seems the small minded to have ABE attitude.

When I was based in Scotland I'd say it was about a 30% were staunch ABE, other 30% passively didn't want England to win and the rest cringed at the attitude of the ABE and those buying Argentina shirts prior to the 2002 World Cup.

They don't. However to call somebody out as to whether they would be able to make a better fist of the tackle is naff at best.

"Call somebody out" - this is like having a conversation with my ex-wife - had enough of those this week, so I'll leave you to find yet another person to argue with.

Hope not, I don't blame the lad for having a go in the NRL, it's tough for them over there, looking forward to seeing Sam Tomkins back at Wigan next season winding the opposition up again.

It is tough, but they do make it over there. If he wants to develop then it is a great opportunity for him. Fortunately we have a policy of selecting our best players for the national team whether they choose to follow their careers in England or elsewhere.

Nice one. :icon_wink:

Oh dear, loads of pictures of Ireland fans on Twitter, I know 'it's all about the craic', but they don't do theirselves any favours regarding stereotyping.

Another try to the Argies. Ireland haven't turned up to the party yet.
