The Rugby Thread

I think as soon as you start lifting a player you put yourself in trouble.

A yellow card to another guy now anyway! Poor discipline.

Both were never yellow cards at all. For me, getting away with the first made a decision easy to give the second. I HATE yellow cards when you are desperately defending the line like Fiji were there. It annoys me. Let the opposition score so you aren't a man down? It ruins the game.

Other comment though - England have started this really well. High quality performance so far.

By the letter of the law it is a yellow card. I agree with you generally though, not sure what the defending team is meant to do really.

I don't like this ref, he was bloody awful in our warm up game in Paris. Some truly baffling calls at times.

It reminds me of many England v Wales games around 2002-2005. Win the line-out, start the rolling maul, and really it can't be defended without a penalty. Therefore dont compound it by a yellow as well.

Like I say though. England look very solid tonight. Very good indeed.

Oh come on...

There is fucking nothing wrong with that. Fucking fair rucking. We aren't playing fucking marbles.

What a ridiculous line out. You wouldn't have that in amateur rugby.

What a try that is!

Edit: oh no he's dropped it.

Superb run but he's dropped the ball. This fucking idiot of a ref didn't think to check before giving the try.

He dropped it for sure but did it go forwards? For me, correct decision there to disallow the try

That was our own fault. Good kick and finish though.

I still stand by England to win by at least 20. Fiji will run out of puff. Saying that, it is a great early test and that will help England get into the tournament nicely.

It's the ideal game really - not the absolute cruise that everyone is going to have vs Uruguay which proves nothing and is just an exercise in how many you can score, but we should still get a decent win on the board to get us going.

Been a bit sloppy at the breakdown in the last 10, credit to Fiji for forcing the issue I suppose.

That is NEVER an England penalty. Should have been the other way for holding on.
