The Rugby Thread

After winning the World Cup at Twickenham the senior All Black players stayed behind after the game to clean the dressing room. It keeps them grounded.

Problem is now a lot of RL coaches have made a handy living from RU as defensive experts based virtually on the back of what Shaun Edwards did and I don't think many Farrell included (with the exception of Mike Ford) actually bring a lot to it, its highlighted now as the game seems to be moving on a bit, away from the defensive side as well.

There was also Larder and Lydon before Edwards IIRC, who contributed to Woodward's England set up.

Dan Carter awarded the Player of the World Cup.

For me, the Man of the World Cup for his generosity and kindness is Sonny Bill Williams, respect.

This incident, following on a wonderful tournament, makes me proud to be RU fan.

yeah, absolute hero. I love seeing stuff like that, life changing for the kid involved

A good win for England against the Kiwis yesterday overshadowed by the terrible news of the death of Chris Leatherbarrow. Chris was aged 26 and a league referee.

Very sad news indeed. He must have been a very good referee to reach such a high level at such a young age.

Yep. Gone back to the Bunnies with immediate effect.

I can only assume they paid Bath off then. If Burgess is happier in league fair enough. He gave Union a go, and was very popular with Bath. Chalk this one up to S Lancaster esq.

Aye, fair enough for him, suppose the whole thing turned sour (none of it his fault), and at least now he can return to what he knows and playing alongside his brothers which is bound to be a big pull.

Bath must be fuming, all their time and work (and cash) gone up in smoke, I would think he would have still being playing Union this season if England's management hadnt played him in the World Cup.

Bath have taken league converts before (Jason Robinson immediately springs to mind) and I doubt this will put them off. They will be annoyed for a while but they have a fairly daunting European cup group to worry about just now.

Wonder how Luther Burrell feels about the whole saga, screwed over for a place in the world cup squad by a not as good in his position fast-tracked player and then his replacements fucks off straight after the tournament.

Good luck with the man-management on that one come the 6N Stuart beyond belief that he looks like stopping).

He will have been Wales coach for a decade by then. Pretty damn good innings and he will be entitled to put his feet up!

He probably would and also seen out his contract at Bath. Sam was definitely missing his family in Oz and the WC debacle was probably an opportunity for an honourable way out for him
