The Royals

I've been a republican all my life; the guy still sounds like a cunt.

Stanhope is meant to be a proper cunt IRL from what I've heard, fwiw...

Leaning towards a full closedown Monday, we've had confirmation internally that all our supermarkets will be closed all day on Monday and convenience stores will be opening just 5-10pm.

What do you disagree with?
All of it

And he can fuck off with calling us a country full of retards and simpletons and questioning our democracy when they have just had 4 years of Trump, and Trump the cunt who still thinks he's president. Plus at least we don't have mass shootings every week so yep, the insulting drugged up pisshead can fuck off

No disrespect to @Alan btw, just don't expect me to laud Stanhope

Stanhope is a prick, especially when it comes to the UK. In this case though what did he say that was incorrect? Do you believe they have superior blood lines to the rest of us? Do you think it's OK they get paid millions to be 'figureheads'? Do you think the royals are a democratic institution?

Yeah, I don't like the guy or find him funny, but saying "you're from the US, you can hardly talk" isn't much of an argument.

If a Blues fan told me that Wolves play shit football, are horrible to watch and have an awful manager, I couldn't very well disagree or turn it around and say "you're worse, and half your ground is falling to bits". What kind of discussion would that be?

This is all assuming I'd ever voluntarily talk to a Blues fan and that I'd find one that can manage two syllable words, of course.

A standard Twitter one?

Well for the second time in a couple of days you demonstrate that I don't really belong in forum world as I don't want to become embroiled in endless arguments with people I don't know but like to read opinions and occasionally give my own (fwiw).

I'm not so much disagreeing with every single point he makes in his diatribe but the overall tone and sentiment of it, especially with his style of delivery.

As I said the other day, I support the Royals as others do not. I wouldn't want us to be a republic and with the disastrous choices we make when offered democratic votes, I don't see that a 'democratically' chosen President is better than a Queen or King.

Listening to Stanhope with his bar room drunk delivery generalising us as a country of retards and simpletons immediately gets my back up and lessens anything else he might go on to say though I get this is done in the name of humour rather than politcal commentary.

Some found it funny, some did not

I agree with you Lupo.

Stanhope does have that style and it is supposed to get your back up.

I do find being lectured by Americans on democracy amusing considering you only get to choose rich people with better blood lines in their opinion. Almost like a monarchy...

But most Americans I have met do like the royal family.

Interesting to hear on the news that anyone wishing to queue to view the coffin, '...must be aware that it will be very hard work, you will require stamina, you may be standing for hours, possibly overnight, with little or no opportunity to sit down, before passing through a similar arrangement to airport security, no cameras, no mobile phones, no photography, only small bags will be allowed into the Abbey.' You'd also have to consider toilet breaks etc...
There'll be thousands! And I bet there are a good few taking buggies and pushchairs...!
