The R.I.P. Thread

Yes he did, but (IMO) this isn't the thread to discuss.

Agreed LW, I have lots of reasons for not respecting some of the stuff him and Wheldon did..
However He has passed, Time has Passed so i'll pass on my condolences to the Villa, and say RIP

No lack of respect intended, I'd just like to know more about that period.

Peter Brackley, the voice of Football Italia and Pro Evolution Soccer, 67.

No real age, one of my favourite commentators too. He and Trevor Brooking were great (within the confines of the script) on PES and he was always excellent on Football Italia. RIP.

I think Brooking ripped up the script that Konami gave him (as it was largely gibberish) and just did his own lines.

Brackley was genuinely top class, underused by the main UK channels.

My brother always refers to the side netting of a goal as the side net thanks to him and PES. I particularly enjoyed the way Brackley would affect a north east accent when announcing games between Teeside and Newcastle. As you say though a seriously underrated and underused commentator for live games. ITV used him for highlights but not a lot else unfortunately, especially when considered against their other options.

Absolute hero of mine. Gutted. I shall dig out some of my early Spidey for a nostalgic re-read tonight and think of the great stuff his comics have brought to my world while raising a glass to him.

William Goldman, screenwriting maestro, 87. The Princess Bride, both film and book, among my favourites.

Richard Baker who anyone mid 40's or over will have grown up with, he died today aged 93. This made me smile in a melancholy fashion. He spent his twilight years in an old folks home and every day cut the headlines out of the paper and at tea time read them out to the rest of the residents. That's beautiful.

Former Swansea, Chesterfield and Lincoln defender Kevin Austin. Only 45.

Bad week for film directors. Bernado Bertolucci, aged 77.

Ex Crystal Palace midfielder Darren Pitcher.

Aged 49. Scored a screamer at Molineux in the 90's when they beat us 4-1. Doesn't really narrow it down as allfour were!

Stephen hilleberg aged 57 of motor neurone disease, never heard of him? You've heard of his creation, spongebob squarepants
