The R.I.P. Thread

Bad week for ex-Carry On actresses. Liz Fraser popped off recently too.

Kevin Beattie ex Ipswich and England defender aged 62 of a heart attack

Denis Norden of "It'll Be Alright On The Night" fame (plus much more), aged 96

Chas Hodges. Played on a number of hit singles in the 60's as a backing musician like 'Johnny remember me' before teaming up with Dave

Love Chas & Dave so this is a real shitter.

Chas played guitar in bands in America before coming back to the UK and concentrating on Piano. He then toured with his hero Jerry Lee Lewis when he came over here.

I think Dave have a run in with cancer a few years back and retired from playing too.

That is sad :(

My best memory of them is playing on Labi Siffres 1975 album and this song in particular

Everybody on the planet has heard the section at 2 min 30 secs and I used to smile at the thought of all those dissafected youths dancing angrily to what was essentially Chas and Dave :)

That Labi Siffre song was just Dave playing bass on it AFAIK. Which of course was then sampled by Eminem for My Name Is.

Fairly certain eminem had to give them a writing credit for it

I thought that was probably the case.

Geoffrey Hayes from Rainbow has died aged 76. As an avid watcher as a child, and an actual Geoff, not Billy, this is very sad news.
