The R.I.P. Thread

Sky being very coy on discussing the precise details when they usually don't give a fuck what they say.
Can always rely on Kay Burley reporting it this morning as "suspected heart failure"

The number of celebrity deaths may or may not be unusual what it unusual to me is the number that were so prevalent in my childhood and therefore mean more to me. I guess that's an age thing, RIP George

The BBC said they had used significantly more of their pre prepared obituaries this year than in others particularly in the first few months of 2016. Like you I cannot remember a year like it. You could almost do the alphabet from Andrew Sachs to zsa zsa Gabor.

I think what has shocked me more than anything is the relatively young age and status of the celebrities. Rickman, Bowie and Micheal weren't retired and that struck me.

To me it's a shock at how many young-ish celebrities have died this year!

Prince (57), Chyna (46), Glenn Frey (67), Pete Burns (57), David Gest (62), Victoria Wood (62), Johan Cruyff (68). David Bowie (69), Alan Rickman (69), Greg Lake (69), Keith Emmerson (71).

Certainly been a shocking year!

27. That's the rule.

See also,
Jim Morrison,
Amy winehouse,
Jimi Hendrix,
Kurt cobain,
Janis Joplin,
All died at 27 sure there's more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head without googling

Sorry to hear of the death of George Michael. His support for the LGBTQ community, for the NHS and for the miners marked him out as an activist as well as a successful recording artist

Indeed. I suppose he said that to stop any rumours spreading.
We really shouldn't be speculating about whether someone died from aids related diseases in 2016 (you can't die of aids directly). Ignoring the fact that life expectancy of a HIV+ person in the UK is the same as negative person due to ARVs, it's also none of our fucking business.

My apologies. But I was not speculating, just expressing why I think his manager made that statement.

Sorry if I came across a bit harsh Frank, I lost quite a few friends to Aids and it always saddened me how people loved speculate after they were gone.

No problem at all, and I am sorry about your sad losses.

I back you on this one. What does it matter what he died of? He was a great artist many people say, a very decent person, too.
I think what you said is true, you can't die of Aids, if you take your medication, but if you carried on doing class A drugs, then the medication won't be so effective, so you could still die of Aids.
However, that isn't the point here, he was a great artist and hasn't been dead 24 hours. It would be nice if people left slurs about his sexuality, his lifestyle and just remembered him for his brilliant contribution to music, in the last 4 decades.
